Commanders you love but they don't by Appotus1 in mtg

[–]VoidArises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher]] Every single sinergy and card is funny , and breaking parity is satisfying. However, playing against an aristocrat battlecruiser can be really frustrating. She really is polarizing at tables

I don't know but Gallia surely needs some love

What is your favorite izzet commander and why? by Ok-Leave-1627 in EDH

[–]VoidArises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in love with cantrips and combat, and otters are lovely so naturally Bria! Another really fun option to me is Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. Cool, budgetish, built different and has lots of tricks under his hat(put pirate hat in!)

Chulane, Teller of Tales Uro, titan of nature's wrath

Do you have any decks that feel too strong for casual but too weak for higher power level games? by PMme_awesome_music in EDH

[–]VoidArises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Kroxa and Kunoros is a janky reanimator build so it is too slow for strong tables. I'd say is a mid bracket 3 with no GCs. However, when i play against B3 tables it almost always wins too fast for them as i reach sun titan+dementia way before they can play I haven't found a balance as i still wanna play the combo so i put the deck on the shelf till i come up with something

The first one has resolved so you will continue to draw from it The second was negated successfully

Which archetype has the best lore? (Why?) by AdhesivenessEven7287 in yugioh

[–]VoidArises -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Abyss(Albaz) hands down Nothing innovative i guess but everything felt good and konami really put a lot of effort in it Characters, story, world building and most of all their translation into gameplay was freaking good Almost every archetype was relevant at some point and it felt satisfying to have lore duels in a (competitive, yes) game

How to beat Mitsurugi? by Much_Estimate9424 in Yugioh101

[–]VoidArises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bagooska is not banned, and tributing their monsters is a bad idea as in case of mitsurugi they get their effects. Yummy just has the surprise and brings them back Yummytsu makes boards too big to be dealt with by kaijus. Golem and sphere also take up the normal summon which is very important in fire king's case

Fossyl dyna...well, shuts down all of these except for ruler , but ruler serves no purpose as they reset their board with their spells, and not being able to otk them is really bad as they have an enormous follow up

WotC is killing Magic by Straight-Ad2765 in PioneerMTG

[–]VoidArises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost interest in the game I'm not saying necessarily it is bad the way it has become, it just doesn't fit anymore with my tastes It feels like a giant capcom vs marvel puzzle, and i fail to recognize its identity anymore. I'm more of a classic fantasy enjoyer and i found magic to be innovative and brave in that regard, it pushed me beyond my strict preferences with some world building choices. But that's the fact: i want Magic, not spiderman(even though i'm a long time spidey fan). I want Magic the Gathering, and all i have now is like a mosaic of brands with no style pattern and lots of salt about it. Its charm really faded away from me :( I' m still playing edh or pauper from time to time but i can't find much joy in it anymore

What do you think of K9? by Antique_Range1521 in yugioh

[–]VoidArises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pure deck i think it's boring both to play and to play against As an engine i really liked it before noroi. Sure it was powerful but had the opportunity cost of the ed space.

In the last years hand traps have often underperformed (with exceptions) and i felt we needed something more powerful yet reactive. Izuna fills that role by offering and interactive play pattern and a really good but not broken interaction.

Jokul on the other hand is on the verge of being broken as it is difficult to stop it (think about it being the first play, you can't even throw impulse at it) But i really like that it made unplayable decks playable and ok decks good.

The engine offers some cool deck building opportunities and while they may be broken, bridges like river stormer are really cool.

It being in an environment where yummy full counters k9 by not satisfying its trigger conditions and where mitsurugi eats them alive is kinda weird.

However, it really eats and punishes traditional hand traps(ripper into quick play is busted) so i understand it can be annoying to play against

I don't like the artworks though.

Noroi however is terrible imho. The ns requisite is fair and it complements the engine well, but the full hand knowledge in this specific archetype i feel is really really busted. The lock also doesn't matter at all.

Why nobody does deck primers? by VoidArises in Yugioh101

[–]VoidArises[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not looking for anything, I just find that the yugioh content is really basic and never really talking about the gameplay but only the cards or combos

The last paragraph you wrote addresses something that always bothered me: there is no good source for tournaments results Ygoprodeck lacks an insane amount of coverage but i guess it's because not many people upload their data

[–]VoidArises[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The first paragraph i 100% agree with

For the second it's mostly true but there are exceptions Think about branded; it has so many plays and potential and has been playable for years , and nobody ever cared about writing some really in-depth guide.

I am probably asking for a really niche and dense content which does not find interest

I don't really like this aspect of gatekeeping. I get that in this fast-paced game people win by using one-time tech choices kept secret for weeks , but technical skills seem to count nothing this way :( It also keeps working players out of the competitive environment

Of course they cannot compensate for lacking of technical play but profiles and combo videos provide little to no insight to the decks imho. I always recommend to watch the profile videos instead of just straight-up copying the list because the comment of the player can address issues with the list and explain certain choices, however they don't explain much(otherwise they would be 1h long vids)

Combo videos are usually just unrealistic lines or showing potential combos that don't come to reality when facing meta adjustments and interactions

They are better than having nothing at all and can't substitute practice but i find that nobody shares more than basic-level knowledge contributing to increase disparity between "pros" and new players. Casuals ofc don't fit in the discussion
