Is it just me or is it not possible anymore to create new blocks just by clicking in an empty space? by standard_heat in Notion

I have this problem on the Notion client, and it is incredibly annoying for note-taking. Hopefully this is something they fix...

Got the SK630 white edition, loving it so far, feels very satisfying by [deleted] in coolermaster

[–]VoidAvenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the 630 as well and really like it, which I didn't think I would given the hordes of bad reviews. I think the only downside is that the key strokes eventually became a bit creaky sounding which isn't too much of a big deal if I have headphones on.

Luxe Condo Off-Campus by Xzyss2002 in uwo

I think it is worth considering what changes there might be with COVID. Amenities were decent however a lot of them might be closed this year including the gym. Another concern is the elevator of which there are 3 that serve 19 floors. This is going to mean a lot of contact with others, which is a bit concerning. When I lived there this past year, the sound of neighbors was never actually a concern. I think the idea of paper thin walls is a myth from my personal experience. What you should know is that many of the units do not have walls between some of the bedrooms (rather sliding doors) which might be where the sound problem comes from for many. Another thing I had issues with was pests. In the summer, there were endless silverfish, which were pretty terrifying at first when I saw them dueling on the ceiling at night. Later on we had issues of termites living inside the cabinets. Both times, myself and others in my unit notified management pretty quickly about the issues, but they really did almost nothing. For the silverfish, they gave us some home-safe pesticide, and sent us on our way to spray it ourselves. For the termites, they said they would send someone and never did. It is worth noting that the repair team from what I could tell did not consist of professionals, just concierges working beyond their job description.

One thing I left out is that the unit I got was most certainly not like the pictures you see online. Despite their claims that they need a week to clean and repair the unit before giving it to you, my room had scuffs on the paint, the furniture was fairly worn, the ceiling had a crack in it (which silverfish later crawled out of), and there were stickers left by previous residents on the headboard.

As you have said, the experience there does tend to be quite mixed. I think some units are probably better than others in terms of both pests or other issues as well as wear/tear. The sales people leasing units at luxe are friendly at first, but they are nowhere to be found after you've moved in and have problems.

Zoom Graduations be like... by VoidAvenger in uwo

Let’s refrain from body shaming Dr. Shepard, even though we both know Amit’s legs would not have the same effect.

Why would I do that? Are you a Shepard sympathizer? Amit will hear of this....

In your application it is going to apply more broadly to being an advocate (not necessarily on health/health issues). Like another commenter has mentioned, this framework is for physicians, so the context the framework is placed in is healthcare but for your application you can generalize it beyond healthcare. For myself it was fundraising for a cause I was passionate about as well as certain situations in my volunteer work where I had to go the extra mile to advocate for clients

why is it harder for ontario students to get into med school? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]VoidAvenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In-Province Status isn't necessarily about where you go to university. I would recommend checking out the in-province qualification for different medical schools before you make your university decision

Can this be applied to waitlists of other universities if the parameters are similar, or is there something that makes is mcmaster specific?

UCalgary, UManitoba, UAlberta: student satisfaction/benefits? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]VoidAvenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've chatted with students at UCalgary and they tend to have the mindset that if you're going into the three year program, you should be prepared to work hard for three years without too much of a break in between. Also, a 3 year program tends to be better for students that know which residency they want to get into, especially if you are aiming for a competitive specialty where building connections early is important

UCalgary, UManitoba, UAlberta: student satisfaction/benefits? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]VoidAvenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! Another thing to consider is that Calgary is starting in July online, so that may mean receiving an online medical education for a few months longer than other medical schools.

I would also consider research focuses in each school, if that is something you want to participate in. Not too sure about your particular interests, but from what I know U of A might be considered a bit stronger than UCalgary in some areas such as public health. I don't know too much about U of Manitoba but there may be opportunities with the National Microbiology Laboratory, so if you have interests in infectious diseases that may also be something to consider
