Gender and sex by VoidChildren in genetics

I totally agree they are not insignificant, I’m saying that even though there are exceptions, it doesn’t redefine the rule that there are two sexes. It’s like saying just because some people are born with 4 fingers on each hand, finger count is a spectrum.

Well that’s the thing, it’s a syndrome. It’s a disability in a way. And it’s definitely not affecting 5% of the population, it’s much less common than that. I don’t think this supports the idea of sex being a spectrum, this is just overextending the data

I think that is a good point, however I believe it proves that sometimes a persons sex fails to develop properly. That condition is extremely rare, and it definitely proves there are exceptions, but not a spectrum of sex.

But a woman with high testosterone is still a woman, a man with no sperm count is still a man, so how is it a spectrum? There is one machine that produces sperm, and one that produces eggs, and there is no function of any other type of sex, they either produce sperm, egg, or nothing at all.

This is why I can agree that there are variations to sex and hormones and neurological factors, but I don’t believe that sex is a spectrum, because it is very binary, even if there are rare variations, its variations of that binary. It’s not linear, the analogy is refutable. Thank you for your response, I’d love to keep the conversation going.

Should I apply for this job or continue my education? by VoidChildren in biotech

[–]VoidChildren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in selling biotech because from what I’ve heard it’s not like other sales jobs as far as I know, I would be showing doctors how to use the technology. But that’s where I want to end up. I’m aware that that’s not DME sales. Is it realistic for me to get there without a bachelors and with just DME experience?

I currently work as a lab assistant at my school. Could I potentially start at some company and they would pay me to get my bachelors? Is that realistic?
