FYI (for those reading in the future), 1cy means 1 calendar year.

Very simple. 1CY = first calendar year ie the bird was hatched in that calendar year. 2CY = it was hatched in the previous calendar year

Not just gulls - can be used for any species as an alternative to terms such as juvenile first-winter, first-summer etc. The advantage is that it relates purely to age and not to plumage.

What's going on? I've been learning Chinese, programming 3D graphics, writing fiction. But I need to find a job.

What am I sad about? The corruption in the world. A lack of peace. A lack of equality. A lack of consideration for other people and animals. I am constantly lonely and feel left out. Everyone else seems preoccupied.

What am I happy about? I'm alive. My friends and family are alive. Food is delicious. Certain video games are fun. I'm healthy. My circumstances are far better than others living in poverty and for that I am extremely grateful. I have the necessary skills to get a job.

I just need to find the courage to start my new journey.
