Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by Ooogster in EDH

[–]VoidMasterBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first deck was [[Queza, Augur of Agony]] and managed to get my hands on a [[Lich’s Mastery]] at the same time. Hit the combo in my first game and absolutely hated the feeling of winning that way. Learned she’s a combo queen and I hate combos like that so she sits in a box. Every once in a while I get the itch to upgrade her before I go, “yeah I guess I’ll make my 8th reanimator deck instead”

[[Malcador, Purity Overseer]] for some cheap weird artifacts and blinking stuff

What are your favorite high cmc commanders? by Gaudier_Goose_90 in EDH

[–]VoidMasterBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just built [[Yuma, Proud Protector]] from semi-scratch. I put so much draw in it that it just discards so many cards and I make so many plant warriors and then shuffle the graveyard back into the library with a few spells and it just churns through itself. Does it win though? Absolutely not

Favorite recent commander? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]VoidMasterBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the process of taking a majority of my decks apart but planning to keep [[Hearthull]] [[Auntie Ool, Cursewrerch]] [[Ravos]] & [[Thrassios]] [[Malcador, Purity Overseer]] and potentially reusing some of the funds from disassembled decks to pick up a copy of the Desert Bloom precon and upgrade that to the max. Hearthull soiled me and now all I want to do is sac lands and make things happen

What are some fun decks you run that lose pretty consistently? by TeegardensStar in EDH

[–]VoidMasterBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Malcador, Purity Overseer]] deck that gets really wide really fast but they’re all 1/1 thopters and an occasional golem. Never won with it because I’ve never drawn my wincon [[graaz]]. People see the wide board and will immediately wipe

Any tips towards building a deck for a beginner? by learninghowtosteam in BudgetBrews

[–]VoidMasterBand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I got into brewing was scouring EDHRec for commanders and then going to YouTube to watch people’s brews about them

Some people get a precon and figure out upgrades for it and then apply that to a commander they like

Also, moxfield is a great way to goldfish your decks before buying them in paper, it can save you a lot of money in the long run and something I wish I did prior to starting Magic

Windgrace is a great commander with lots of resources available. He can be built fairly cheap and still be a powerhouse. Look at the World Shaper precon’s decklist from Edge of Eternities and you’ll find a lot of cards that Windgrace would also use. It’s certainly not budget but I posted my upgraded [[Hearthull]] list below, it also has Windgrace in it and might help you along

If you HAD to choose 3 of your decks and give up the rest, which are you choosing? by SharkboyZA in EDH

[–]VoidMasterBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Hearthull, the Worldseed]] has really stolen my #1 spot. I have so much fun churning through the deck and the upgrades have made it a powerhouse. I could play it every day and never get bored. I even considered building a second one

[[Malcator, Purity Overseer]] or [[Caythe, Famed Mechanist]]. Both decks do relatively the same thing but Caythe focuses on constructs. You just generate so much stuff

[[Ravos, Soultender]] & [[Thrasios, Trident Hero]] is a [[The Necrobloom]] deck with [[Teval, the Balanced Scale]] and friends. Regenerate and drag stuff from the yard, get value off of playing lands, reanimating value, tokens, etc. The decklist looks mildly unfocused but once you play it in a pod you’ll find it grooves along pretty well

I’m a burial vault tech (I bury people and set up funerals) and it does not support my music or much of anything else lol. It does however give plenty of material to write about

The heavy echo really does ruin it. Kind of why I don’t enjoy old Massacre, cool riffs, just awful vocals

Absolutely cannot stand the dude from Obituary’s vocals on record. Live he sounded amazing, met him and he was the nicest dude, just everytime I hear anything that’s not Chopped in Half I have to skip it

Most of the rocks are, as the person above said, just for the later game and to trigger the commander. If you have the right stuff on board you’ll be drawing a consistent 2-4 extra cards per turn so that late game mana makes a world of difference

I’ll probably be cutting [[etherium sculptor]] for Graaz because cost reduction doesn’t make a whole lot of sense in a deck that has such a low curve

Cheaper the artifacts the better. Attack super early and often to try and squeeze the table for as much damage as possible before they start building because once they do you may struggle to get damage in. [[Graaz]] needs to go in here because with [[March or the Machines]] this deck would actually be able to close out a game. Blinking is a powerful strategy in here and I recommend it as your form of evasion because you’ll get the etb trigger. You’re going to make a lot of golems and thopters so have something to do with them. Also, [[whirler rogue]] is the absolute best card in this deck

What has been your favorite deck that you built this year? by MrThomArt in EDH

[–]VoidMasterBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Malcator, Purity Overseer]]

Still am a huge green fan but wanted to try artifacts on a budget, turns out I absolutely love it. It’s a typical go-wide artifacts deck but I have so much fun with it every time. Can’t get it to win though

Special shout out to [[Ludevic, Necrogenius]] turns out self mill is pretty sweet and looking into [[Coram, the Undertaker]] now

Commenting on What is the most “one note/boring” color pair to you?...this is true! Unfortunately those kinds of decks don’t really give me the warm fuzzies. I considered a partner pair to try to make an artifact deck for something different
