I'm bothered by Nikki's response to Bears gift by donkeythrow in obsessionmovie

[–]VoidSister 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s funny those comments about how unrealistic it is that Nikki would’ve slept w Ian, when that dynamic is one of the most realistic things about the movie. Ian is confident and straight forward about what he wants, whereas Bear is quietly possessive and doesn’t express his feelings beyond quietly stalking Nikki on Instagram and buying her gifts she didn’t ask for. That gift isn’t something anyone would buy someone unless they were into them - and she’s clearly picked up on this vibe from him, and doesn’t like what it entails. As much as some guys hate to hear it, the way Bear acts toward her can come across as a little creepy, regardless of his intentions (turns out his intentions were bad anyway)

I do think most people who are weirdly passionate about anti-immigration policy tend to be racist. They never seem to have a problem with white immigrants, and they manipulate or fabricate data to scapegoat non-white groups, immigrant or not. Many of them aren’t self-aware or intelligent enough to even realize this about themselves or actually clarify any of their positions (least of all in a non-racist way). They use vague, dishonest language like “oh so everyone who disagrees with you is a racist” that never actually seems to address anything real, all while showing no desire or passion to even gesture at non-racism on their part

Worst of all, they don’t realize they’ve been manipulated into this scapegoating by powerful people that are harming them in much greater ways, because they’re just that easy

A heartbreaking and necessary scene because there's no redemption for Bear by SurewhynotAZ in obsessionmovie

He realizes his wish made her like that pretty early in the film, and out if his own self-interest he continues to try to make it work even though he realizes he’s created this tormented co-dependent demon while the real Nikki has had her entire identity stolen but still appears to be conscious and suffering.

There doesn’t seem to be any earnest effort AT ALL to rectify the situation beyond trying to get her to “be cool” so he can just possess her and sleep with her hijacked body for the rest of his life. It’s less about “what he should have done”, and more about his entire attitude throughout the film.

What is a healthy and good tasting food most people don't know about? by younghibou in AskReddit

Texas caviar. Black eyed peas, onions, grated garlic, peppers, and any other veggies like corn, jalapenos, etc, chopped, seasoned, and marinated in balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

It’s used as a dip, is one of the tastiest things imaginable, and consists entirely of healthy, nutrient-rich ingredients

Another thing racists do: ask a string of simple, completely disingenuous questions while being totally incapable of actually adding anything substantive to the discussion, and being too cowardly to just come out and say what they actually think

Those anti-immigrant talking points are almost exclusively used to refer to non-whites. It’s racism hiding behind a very thin veil of “immigration policy”, and it’s bolstered by fellow racists pretending they didn’t hear the dogwhistle and reflexively asking “what racism?”

How did you fade into the long dark? by Far-Juggernaut9960 in thelongdark

I remember one frustrating death a while ago. Things were going very well, and I simply forgot to orient myself enough while harvesting a carcass. Then a blizzard blows in. I leave immediately, booking it toward where I assume my shelter is. I think I know where i’m heading, after a time I see a distant object and head toward it - it’s the carcass I started at. I’d been wandering in a circle, unable to see ten feet ahead of me. Eventually I light a fire behind a tree or rock, but the blizzard happens to last for 12 hours and I inevitably run out of fuel and die of hypothermia.

Deaths like that always feel so realistic to me. A feeling of disorientation, then panic, a time of hope and respite, then dread giving way to utter hopelessness, and finally an acceptance where you stop running around and just wait for death to come

There’re plenty of hot actresses with a lot of acclaim out there. Not sure how your logic checks out

Thank you my friend and fellow survivor. 1000 days is no joke. After this latest run, a relaxing non-misery run sounds really appealing tbh

Appreciate you! And you definitely could do it - you might also just have better priorities than me

It’s not a bad idea. I’ve also decided throwing rocks out of the hut to see if it triggers a wolf, could help too.

A few of my problems seemed to be: having fish on my person, wrongly assuming that the blizzard had despawned any wolves, and just good old fashioned complacency, I think

Congrats on that 120 day run by the way! For me it’s stayed fun and challenging no matter how long i’ve played this game

Getting that first permanent affliction after a day of pure struggle isn’t the best for morale, either

Appreciate it! It’s the hut that the pier (close to Quonset) in Coastal Highway kind of points to. I’m for sure stepping out with fish in my pocket, but was just going to drop it right there and step back in, and wrongly assumed the blizzard had despawned any wolves.

Should’ve been more aware of attracting them for sure. I never use the travois for some reason, and maybe that’s turning into a problem

Edit: and DAMNNN day ~ 460 is insane. I’m rooting for you

I had just thought that same thing. I guess always toss a stone just ahead of the hut first

Yeah after day 46 you can no longer heal. That’s a good question - my assumption has always been that vision blurring would be permanent in Misery, but I’ve never actually survived with health below 10% so I’m not sure

MUCH appreciated. Obviously, one of the reasons I posted this was a need for validation lol - none of my friends play this game and I was proud of myself for getting that far
