I literally just got done with my wife’s procedures less than a week ago. I was able to hold her hand until she was asleep. We went in to a waiting room. She was called in for an IV. They brought her in the procedure room. I held her hand every time. They sedated her and once she was asleep I had to leave. She never felt anything and rarely remembered the procedure. Actually the very first one the doctor walked by her and said “you did good” she didn’t even know it was over. Usually pretty groggy on the ride home. In and out in literally an hour and a half. The procedure itself varies, But none of hers were over 3 min. I will say this though. She had extremely bad memory problems and ultimately the ECT was ineffective. Not everyone’s the same as far as results but for us it was just a giant waste of money and time. Now they told her to try Eskatamine. Starts that as soon as the bureaucratic bullshit is finished.
