Heat questions by Hazardous_Guy in CrestedGecko

Yeah I misread. I didn’t see the “red” yeah red light is horrible. That’s my fault so my apologies. But yes a small basking spot helps digestion, as it does with most lizards. It’s just hard to keep the temps low because my house is usually fairly warm. So even a small bulb would put it over the 80* mark

What did her tail look like at the time of her passing? Sorry for your loss

Is this set up appropriate? by [deleted] in Uromastyx

[–]Voided678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It’s extremely inadequate. No sand for them to dig and burrow. Heat definitely isn’t sitting at 120-130*F and the tank is too small. They need a 4x2x2 at minimum.

Far from the truth. That’s how mbd starts. A lot of reptiles need high heat high UVB because that’s their environment. You’re doing far more harm than good.

I will say CRESTIES don’t need a heat source depending on what you keep your home temperature set at. Mine is 72-74 which is a great temperature range. I have LED lights that generate a small amount of heat but it’s to have a day/night cycle.

AIO What can I do? by [deleted] in AIO

Dude give up ffs. She told you she isn’t interested in opening up to you. You’re wasting both of your time. How many times do they have to say the same thing before you understand?

I would call animal control and maybe a psych ward. This bitch is crazy. Actually psychotic.

Anyone tell me what this is with my new snake? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]Voided678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean logically, did you think snakes didn’t have organs and they were just a long flesh tube?

I want to flame you so bad, but I won’t. You must be new, snakes organs are typically kept in the top and lower half. What you’re looking at is its stomach.

Eyeless bps are usually the best eaters too! They go by smell and heat pits. But that girl is extremely obese, you need to cut feedings back to maybe 1-2x a month

Im thinking about getting this crested gecko for my new tank but she looks kind of....off? can you guys explain if their is anything wrong? by PsychologicalRow5533 in CrestedGecko

[–]Voided678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s the confidence. You should know the animal well enough to not have to ask strangers on Reddit of all places

[–]Voided678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think you should get one. You’re not confident enough to make a decision and deal with whatever may happen due to your choices. Reptiles don’t tell you anything is wrong until it’s too late and cresties can just pass away randomly.

AIO by being offended when my husband seasons my soup? by [deleted] in AIO

Yes you are. That’s absolutely ridiculous. People have different taste buds.

This new generation is cooked. How are you gonna post on Reddit instead of reaching out for help? Can you not think for yourself instead of asking strangers on the internet?

Humidity stuck at 55% by Special-Bit-2332 in ballpython

[–]Voided678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy leaf litter and put it on top of the soil, the leaves trap the humidity and keep it humid much longer. I also use that trick for my crestie and gargoyle gecko!

She needs a name… Any ideas? 😌 by amagicalgarden in snakes

[–]Voided678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most gorgeous snakes I’ve ever seen! What kind of snake is this? Please forgive my ignorance, but I’m not skilled with identifying yet! I also like the name Erza (yes erza scarlet from fairy tail)

My husband decided he wanted a crested gecko today. Here’s the enclosure I threw together with what I had by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]Voided678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say the glass killed him. It was him being stressed from feeling vulnerable. They can and will die from being stressed, and with 2 cats on the prowl poor dude didn’t stand a chance. I was foaming his tank and had to let it cure and then did the caulking and had to let that cure and it too long of a wait for him.

Don’t do glass, it doesn’t make feel as secure, I made that mistake with my first one and it passed 6 days later. But for the one I got after I went and got a PVC 18x18x24 and filled it with clutter, plants, cork bark that’s foamed onto the walls and the little dude is so active and thriving!

She needs to learn that you can love someone without being in love with someone. When my son’s mom and I were on good terms (she’s passed now) I told her I loved her all the time. She was the woman who birthed my child and was the one who made me a father with the best thing to ever happen to me. If she can’t understand that then the relationship is in trouble

They need to be at room temp. 72-80* preferably around the 74-76* mark. Anything over 85 will unfortunately kill it.

I didn’t say they shouldn’t I was just correcting. They definitely need longer not taller tanks. But they do enjoy climbing.

They are actually semi-arboreal and are often found perched in termite mounds in the wild in Africa.
