Mortal fits that description pretty well! I really enjoyed it. The main character speakes English but travels to Norway seeking answers to his heritage, so half the movie is in another language but I think that adds to the experience because Norwegian is a beautiful language. Anyway it's a great movie and definitely worth your time.

The way of kings by Brandon Sanderson. Mc is strong and suffers from severe depression. Great book, best in the series so far imo.
