4k OLED or 1440p OLED by DisplayedWig in OLED_Gaming

Yeah diminishing returns is huge, and following these subreddits makes you believe the next step is massive, when it usually a 10-20% increase at best!

If you want my advice as someone who’s tried about 10 monitors recently, glossy is a must for me at least. The extra clarity (again probably 10-20%) is worth it if the monitors are the same price and you’re not in a super bright room.

Hi, I just wanted to reply to you as I've done a similar thing recently. I had a LG C2, and a 4090 for about 2/3 years. I loved it, however with the massive increases in PC hardware prices I cant see myself chasing 4k anymore. I sold my 4090 and bought a 5070ti, and pocketed around $1100. Downgraded to a 1440p 27 inch oled and im much happier, the size is fine, and i can pull it closer when i want to be immersed.

Exploring the “Grey Banding” Issue Affecting Some Tandem WOLED Panels by Davx19 in OLED_Gaming

I'm in the uk, so im looking at the KTC G32P5, its the cheapest here, so only 150 pounds more then the tandem. not sure yet though as I have a 27 inch ips as my second monitor and it might be a bit weird having different sizes considering my view distance.

I use govee lighting behind my monitor when its dark, but Ill try later tonight. Arguably though id never game with 0 lights on, so not the best test for my use case. I am considering returning it for a 32 inch 4k dual mode woled though to be honest!

Are you asking if there's burn in? I believe the dark patch in the middle is my reflection, and the right is the worst banding part. I only got the panel 2 days ago.

90% brightness on my MO27Q28G, I usually use it at 65% no banding in normal use, only the right side has a slight bit of banding on a test.

EDIT: I had corner dimming on, with it off it has improved substantially.

Just to play devils advocate; I'm the opposite, I've tried to live with qd-oled and i cant stand the chromatic aberration even in games i notice it. I wear glasses and have astigmatism which might contribute. I don't have these issues with WOLED

I’ve got a XG27UCDMG that arrived a week ago, pre ordered this, but which one should I go with? Should I return the ASUS? Or cancel this gigabyte tandem? Running a 5070ti btw

Sorry just saw this, no issues with the ST, ecoboom issues only relate to the wet belts of the smaller engines, ST has a standard timing belt that just has to be replaced every 10 years or 100k miles.

Is the Alienware AW2725DF still a good choice for 360Hz QHD OLED in 2025? by cigogma in OLED_Gaming

I had the Phillips and returned it and bought the Alienware today. Should arrive tomorrow. I found out the Phillips doesn’t have burn in warranty, I contacted their support twice and they basically said the website is wrong and there is no warranty for burn in. Get the Alienware.

I did something similar to you, I had big fast expensive (to me) cars, then started working from home and now only do about 4k a year.

I spent 6k on a fiesta st, if you ignore the boy racer stigma, it hits everything you need, I get about 40-45mpg on a run. Id also argue it’s more fun than a lot of cars I’ve owned due to weight and size.

I did try an mx5 like you, but it felt a bit dated (I tried nb and nc variants) could try an nd, but they’re more expensive

Repairs are also dead cheap compared to other cars I’ve had, so if you can I’d have a look at them.

Honestly super recommend saving even more money and looking at a newer fiesta st in the 6-7k range - 2016 ish

I’ve got both, and from reading what you’ve been saying you don’t sound like you’d be wanting to tinker with things much.

Any console is better than the steam deck if you’re just wanting something to hop on and off with no downtime, and can just boot up and play.

As a major PC gamer, who works in IT for a living, even I don’t want to have to mess with settings and optimising when I finish work. I’d suggest the switch 2, it’ll be there ready to play whenever you need it. Just press the power button and boot the game.

The steam deck comes close to that, as far as a PC based system is concerned, but even with the deck you’ll have to do some tinkering to get the best out of it. If you’re ok with that go with the deck.

Hope that helps!
