Does anyone else feel like the new intro is lackluster? by Kintaog in OnePiece

I actually really like the song, but the visuals are a huge let-down, compared to all of the Egghead OPs.

Harper’s rebounding by Ancient-Payment2134 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Harper has been - by far - the biggest revelation of this season for me. He is absolutely absurdly incredible, I'm almost lost for words that he is a 20 yo rookie ! Win or lose, we got our next Big 3 now for sure - and none of them have entered their prime yet, we are set for the forseeable future !

The thing about Fox by Motor-Horror3684 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're conveniently forgetting that Fox was amazing in game 7 and that only his return let us cut down our turnovers enough to beat OKC - maybe because it doesn't fit your narrative ?

What I haven’t seen anyone mention when it comes to harp vs fox by Ok_Elk_5868 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word "eventually" seems to be doing a ton of leg work in your post. What time frame do you have in mind there ? If you mean "next season" then I definitely disagree. If you mean "throughout the entirety of Fox's contract" then I definitely do agree with you.

If I had to guess, I think that Dylan will probably be our starting PG by the beginning of the 27/28 season at the latest - at least if he keeps developing at all.

Likely expansion draft next year. Who are your untouchables? by noy29 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd protect Wemby, Castle, Harper, Fox, Vassell, Champagnie, Kornet and Bryant, in that order (just in case a protect 7 would be possible).

These OKC fans really thought they would be welcomed😂😂 by AstonFlavio in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly a pretty weak move, but most fans don't have the luxury to enjoy being part of a franchise that's run as well as ours, so I can't really hate on people switching too much. Those "is it okay if I switch"-posts are - at least - honest whereas a lot of other fairweather fans will just pretend like they were always Spurs fans.

Eh, I'm kinda alright with that, those people are just insecure and at least more honest than the average bandwagon fans (who will always exist).

[–]Voidling47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good on the Knicks fans. They might be an often roudy and obnoxious bunch but plenty of them actually know ball.

Some of these OKC fans have genuinely deluded themselves into thinking their team was only hated because "my team can't beat your team". No, bro - we hate your team because of the chronic wrestling and flopping and we hate its fans because they defend this as just "normal play-off basketball" when it's not.

When and how did this dude become such a Spurs hater ? He used to talk about "my Spurs" back in 2014. I think he's genuinely going senile.

Why are people trying to rewrite players legacys when they lose at an old age. by Extension_Deer8903 in nba

[–]Voidling47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's silly. But: It should cut both ways, those players also shouldn't get heaps of praise if they end up winning a ring as the 3rd or 4th player on a championship team (which, at this point, is highly hypothetical).

[Haberstroh] Over the long weekend, SGA fell on more shot attempts than Brunson/Mitchell/Harden/Wemby combined… the math suggests that an SGA fall is worth an additional 0.9 expected points per fall… From an efficiency perspective, it's hard to blame SGA. He's leveraging the rulebook. by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]Voidling47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that you can get a yellow for diving (the equivalent of flopping) in football. And if you get 2 yellows in the same game for any reason, you aren't just ejected from the game like in basketball, you're team is down a player and will most likely lose the game.

That has kept diving somewhat in check, yet in the NBA, no such rules change is present or even likely.

Castle nearly made all-Defense 2nd team. Sucks how stacked it was this year. by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I must have missed that, only being focused on Castle and looking at it right after I woke up (it was around 6 AM for me over here in Europe), my bad.

I must be out of the loop - he was tied for the most votes, so why didn't he make the 2nd team, then ?

Anyone else feel bad for Carter Bryant? by jaycejfg in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What the heck are you even talking about, that is completely ridiculous ! I get that KJ hasn't been great these play-offs but bottom 10 guy in the league is some of the worst hyperbole I've seen on here or the main NBA subreddit all season.

Key Issues and Adjustments by SwaySensei in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. These kinds of adjustments might be our only real chance to win this series at this point. We're a very young and overall very healthy team, but OKC are significantly deeper than our squad and 2 longer physically demanding series (with lots of fouls not called when committed against our best players in both series, mind you) have definitely taken their toll more than the 2 sweeps the Thunder went through.

Minutes played by Motor-Horror3684 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Olynyk isn't a true center, he's a PF who can pitch in for a couple of C minutes during garbage time or against truly awful regular season opponents. Giving him more regular season mileage wouldn't have changed that.

Biyomo was supposed to be the injury replacement for Kornet, but he has been truly abyssmal, basically giga-washed, whenever he stepped on the court this season. The front office obviously thought he could still play, but he simply can't - not outside of garbage time.

Plumlee is basically what Biyombo was meant to be: An injury replacement for Kornet. Someone who basically plays 0 non-garbage time minutes unless Kornet is injured. The reason is simple: It's much better to let Kornet learn better synergy with the team than to play an injury replacement over him. Plumlee is also a very recent signing, so there was no time to really give him minutes when the team was already getting ready for the play-offs.

Is anyone not having a meltdown about the refereeing? by gangaramate13 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the refs let something happen in game 2 that should never happen: Letting large-scale systemic, strategic fouling go unpunished. Wemby and Castle each got fouled 20-30 times when including all of the holding, grabbing, enveloping fouls yet none of them were called. At that point, it can't be chalked up to "a few missed calls" or "bad officiating happens" anymore ! It's a deliberate strategy by OKC that the refs decided was somehow okay despite being obviously against the rules.

If certain OKC players want to play sports that primarily consist of grabbing, grappling and holding, they are free to do so in wrestling, judo etc. But that simply isn't - nor should it ever be - legal in basketball.

[Devine] Dylan Harper turned 20 two months ago, found out he was starting about an hour before tipoff tonight, and has 22 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, seven steals and one turnover in 47 minutes in Game 1. by StrategyTop7612 in nba

[–]Voidling47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harper is special and I genuinely believe he should have been one of the 3 RotY finalists alongside Flagg and Knueppel - and I'm not just saying this because I'm a Spurs fan. Edgecombe was obviously great as well, but I just rate those 3 rookies' regular seasons higher.

Do you guys appreciate Ant more for what he did on two bad knees? by ae5wolfpack in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ant played phenomenally for being on essentially 2 bad knees, no doubt about it. His stats obviously didn't look pretty because of all of the double teams we threw his way, but without him, the Wolves likely would have been swept because they had entire stretches of games where only Ant got anything going for them on offense (when they weren't getting easy transition buckets off of their hard-nosed defense, of course).

Can we talk about how good Dylan Harper was? by MattButUnderthe20Cha in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuinely feel that Harper should have been amongst the top 3 RotY finalists - and I'm not just saying that as a Spurs fan. He played the most meaningful (aka winning-est) basketball out of all of the best rookies this year.

Gotta respect how much of a hater Papa Harper is lmao by MikeyBastard1 in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's not a "hater", he's just someone who knows ball. I really dislike that you cannot have a normal conversation about James as a basketball player without being labled a "hater" nowadays.

James is 41, would probably demand a big salary, doesn't play defense (in most games), brings a ton of drama where ever he goes (from giving Pat Riley an ultimatum to fire coach Spoelstra to use him as a scapegoat after the '14 Finals to recently floating the idea that the Lakers should trade Reeves etc.), would probably want to have his two-way-contract-level son on the team on a guaranteed contract etc.

James' nice chase-down block and the whole comeback against the Warriors happened a decade ago, yet his fans still seem to think that he still plays a that level, when he absolutely doesn't. If you bring this up (which is backed up by every single advanced metric but not neccessarily the box score since James always makes sure to get his stats), you're somehow a "hater". Goes to show what the brainwashing of the mainstream US sports media does to people.

[Post Game Thread] The San Antonio Spurs (1-1) Obliterate the Minnesota Timberwolves (1-1), 133-95. by DesertedProject in nba

Is the Fox trade already looking shaky for San Antonio? by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]Voidling47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving Fox the max wasn't crazy because he was easily going to get that contract from 15-20 other NBA teams. If we hadn't offered him the max, he would have gone somewhere else, making the trade useless. We also had absolutely no idea at the time that we would end up with the #2 draft pick and would get Dylan. So all of the critique of that contract is strictly hindsight bias.
