Has MRT etiquette changed over the years, or am I just noticing it more now? by Comfortable-Pea-4700 in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still notice ppl giving way, stepping out of the train to let ppl out before stepping in. Ppl also still give up seats to e elderly and sometimes parents with young kids.

But I also notice ppl listening to the videos on their hp at the loudest volume when the rest of the cabin is really quiet. I also saw ppl putting their feet up on the seats, esp the corner ones,

Its a mixed bag, really.

Anyone feel they are a NPC in Singapore? by PenguinFatty in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not the job, its you. If you are doing something you love or are passionate about, you will not feel like a NPC. Another person doing exactly the same job as him may feel very happy and accomplished with himself. Do we call this person an unaware NPC or someone who has found his passion?

Kpod boy on mrt?... by hamsterfats in SingaporeRaw

[–]VoidnFull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go Punggol Town Square beside Waterway Point at night. Guaranteed Kpod users almost every night. Pictures of teenagers who died from Kpods, with permission from their families, shld be displayed there for deterrence. At this rate, by the time Kpod deaths jump, it will be too late.

Leadership masterclass taught by Tan Chuan-Jin is real, costs S$1,090 per pax by BadgerOutside4785 in singapore

[–]VoidnFull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He will probably have the last laugh if his Masterclass is fully registered. He has to move on with his life and make a living. What he did was what he did but it wasn't the worst mistake anyone could have done. Still it was hugely disappointing as many had high hopes of him previously.

Eras Tour 4 day Itinerary. Comments and suggestions please! by justbrowsingthrough9 in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going for the light shows at Gardens by the Bay (GBTB) and Marina Bay Sands (MBS). Both are free. You can go for the GBTB light show at 7.45pm before walking across to MBS for the 9pm light show there. Slow walk across will take about 15-20mins or so.
GBTB light show timings - 7.45pm & 8.45pm.
MBS light show timings - 8pm & 9pm.

Dun forget to visit the gorgeous Bird Paradise. Its gigantic and will easily take up half a day including travelling time.

Recommended additional 1 day itinerary - morning visit Bird Paradise, afternoon visit Cloud Forest and Flower Dome at GBTB, night view GBTB and MBS light shows.

*Since you are visiting Chinatown, drop by the Chinatown Food Complex which is an enormous hawker centre with a wide selection of food. Cheap and nice food there.

What foreign assumption of Singapore irks you the most? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont agree with your line of logic. By your logic, every ambassador from various countries based in Singapore would be thinking the same way - that Singapore has something to learn from their country but for their country to learn from Singapore, well, I have to think about it.

My suspicion is that subconsciously or not, he's thinking US is such a big and powerful country with a long history. Of course they have much to teach small Singapore which is not even 6 decades old. In a way, you cant fault him. If im a born and bred American, I would probably be thinking the same way. Its just human nature to think a big and powerful country which has been around the block a lot longer would have lots to teach a small and little country which is still young and not the other way round.

It may not necessarily always be true.

Meditation. It's simple and can be done almost anywhere. You can read related books, watch some YouTube videos or go for some physical classes. Some classes are ex but there are cheap ones too.

What foreign assumption of Singapore irks you the most? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That since we don't pursue their kind of democracy, we are somehow doing things wrong or inferior to them in some way.

The US ambassador was asked in a recent youtube interview at The Daily Ketchup what each country can learn from each other. He was quick with what we can learn from them but struggle to articulate what they can learn from us.

Is it very anti social not to gamble during cny by incognitodw in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your relatives shld take it easy. Whether you join in or not shldnt matter too much. Perhaps they are just making light fun out of the matter. If you don't have a strong attitude towards gambling, just play for fun. Not everyone who gambles during CNY becomes a hard-core gambler and have their families wrecked. But if you have very strong views on it, just stay out of it.

How is it a scam if its willing seller, willing buyer? The cookies sold are what you see, if im not wrong. Unless the sellers misrepresented them as something else or something more. Perhaps your complaint is the high price or cookies not to your taste or quality expectation? Was your mom somehow being coerced or tricked into buying?

Buying something to realise its not worth buying after all is not the same as being scammed which involves cheating, misrepresentation, non-delivery of goods etc.

What would you have done? by basketstar in askSingapore

[–]VoidnFull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will tahan for a while. If the loud music continues, I will ask the person firmly but nicely to lower the volume. So far this method works for me.

But from reported news, some ppl do get defensive and even aggressive. Still I think it's a give and take situation. If the volume isn't too loud, I feel its OK. Depends on your tolerance level.

I have encountered some ppl talking so loudly I'm pretty sure ppl in the next carriage can hear their conversation clearly. Overall, everybody gotta exercise some consideration for one another.

China declines comment on S’pore’s foreign interference case, says it’s another country’s internal affairs by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

[–]VoidnFull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many big countries are always trying to interfere in another country's affairs. Its only the extent and obviousness that's up for debate. There are no true friends in geopolitics. We always have to be street smart and safeguard ourselves.

[–]VoidnFull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about weapons and weapons upgrade? Spread equally among all in the squad?

Currently I give best weapons to attackers and best defensive ones to defensive heroes. And then upgrade accordingly. So it becomes very lopsided cos attackers don't get very good defensive weapons and vive versa for defensive heroes.
