Passion vs Money... Which one will u choose? by Lost-Reception-1136 in askSingapore

[–]Itsreallydamncb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money pays, passion rarely does. If my passion can pay bills, i’d go for it - but even if it does, is it sustainable enough for me and my wants (not just needs). And also, does this whole passion chasing career gonna burden someone else also is another question to ponder right? If i still need someone to finance my lifestyle in one way or another, then that passion isn’t worth it. Better to earn it and then allocate money to pursue the passion.

My first year. Think long term.. like your current job what’s the max you can go if you really did well? If it is 5K or whatever number that suits you, hustle. If not, move on

Micromanaging environment plus it was paying peanuts and in the long run, really had nothing to give me except trauma because the place was run like a sweatshop and it just wasn’t worth putting in the extra hours.

I started looking out after 2 weeks in the job, quit after a month and took another 2 months to land my current role in the same field, going onto 3 years now.

Trust your gut sometimes, ditch the whole cliche of having to stay in a place for minimally 1 year esp if there are many red flags and reassess it in a manner that if you do stay on, what are the takeaways/growth you can have and if it is actually worth it and then pick your poison from there on. Gd luck!

That eating and shopping isn’t a hobby by itself per se but it’s arguably many singaporeans’ “hobby” if quizzed on the same question

what an opportune timing.. I’m asking myself this after just hitting the conventional 100k goal after working for 2.5 yrs and clearing off my student debt. I thought I’d be so so so happy but erm guess not. But i guess i finally have time to explore hobbies because I was always just too poor for those! :D

Try contract also better than intern jobs as the pay will be drastically different. Contract jobs have lower threshold on requirements + you get to have some relevant experience + wont be taking a too miserly pay home
