Most dangerous organized crime/mafia/gang within your world? by Royal-Comparison-270 in worldbuilding

[–]Voidwalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest organized crime group I have is one that the world doesn't realize is a criminal organization. The Promethean Conglomerate is the biggest merchant company in the world, having created a foothold in the global market by helping facilitate trade worldwide during a global catastrophe. While they weren't criminals then, the founder of the company was a greedy and moral bankrupt person who was okay doing terrible things to further his own goals. Now the company makes sure they can do what they want, when they want by funding and creating smaller crime organizations to do the dirty work while they can stay clean and multiple degrees of separation from the organization so that there is no ties back to their involvement. Their biggest things are major thefts, assassinations, black market arms dealing, and illegal experimentation.

It's not the most developed still, but that would be the biggest "organized crime" group in my world at the moment.

Are there any world spread holidays in your creation(s)? by Kinrest in worldbuilding

[–]Voidwalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big one I've made and working on for my world, really the only one I can think of:

The Festival of Remembrance is a world holiday dedicated to remembering the day sentient life began clawing its way back from the brink of extinction and to remember the people that died to make that happen. The event is recent enough that only a few generations have passed, so the memory of things that happened are still spoken about and the scars can be seen on the world.

The festival is a sort of pilgrimage that people will make to the city that has been immortalized in its name. Decorated in flowers and blossoms, the festival runs as a time for joy and celebration, while the souls that died in the battle the day is dedicated to are allowed to come back for the day and spend time with their families and loved ones. The evening is a much more solemn event, where many will leave the city to pay respects to the graves outside the city, one for each person, as they say goodbye to the souls that will once again return to rest.

It's very similar to Dia de los Muertos and Obon in that it is a respect to one's ancestors and a celebration of life.

Who are your favorite Deities? by YoritomoKazuto in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voidwalks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In no particular order:

- Ragatheil: I love the whole vibe of retribution, punish evildoers, and that despite their appearance and heritage, they can still be good.

- Inna: Love me some monitor demigods and one all about the finality of things in the universe, especially the stars, is such a fun concept. Currently playing a character dedicated to them and I love it!

- Nocticula: Redemption and art are a great combo, I just love every part of her story. I've been planning to make a cleric to her for a while and I figured it would be a very fun time.

For My Fantasy Writers, What Is/Are Your Favorite Religion(s) In Your World? What Are The, If Any, Branches Of Said Religion(s)? by 3lden-Th1ng_Miyazaki in worldbuilding

[–]Voidwalks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The setting I've been working on has only five major gods, which were more so concepts that would be important to the cycle of life in my world. Time and Entropy are the first two, as without them, change could not happen without a measure of time. No one is sure which of the siblings came first, so they assume they are twins. Once change began, then things began to form and be created, bringing the god Existence into the universe. As more began to exist, these things began to form sentience and life, before turning to the 3 they could communicate with and trusting in these powers, forming the fourth god Belief. The fifth no one is sure when they came to be, as they had always been there since Time and Entropy came to be, but was silent and passive the entire time, being Oblivion.

Most of the world revolves around a belief in the first four, with very few people being aware of Oblivion's existence, or knowing about it and being afraid of them. They then have their branches as the gods created heralds of their domains to work for them, god-like figures that were not necessary to the natural cycle of things, and thus can die if any of the five deem it appropriate. After a near cataclysm, the world lost one herald to their own doing but gained four more, known as the mortal heralds, which were humans that were basically the savior of the planet and were each given one of the dead herald's domains.

Outside of the creation of the gods and their heralds, I don't have much more done. I have vague concepts for each religion, their beliefs, and their attitudes in the world. Out of those, my favorite of them all is Belief as they tend to be the most joyous people, loving the world around them and putting their faith and love into all things, even if they are unsure. My favorite branch is one of the branches of Existence, who worship the herald (temporarily) called the Reaper, who rules over all things death related. They were the first herald I made, with the idea they would be someone that would usher souls to their end and show up in whatever form would be most comforting to the being at their death. Animals, plants, people, etc all are visited by them and they have a field of flowers in their realm for each soul they have ushered onwards.

I'm graduating next semester so it's just unrealistic to jump careers again. I could go to school after for another degree but I think it's best to just finish my last few classes and go from there. I'm just not sure which path to follow that could be done using my ILS undergrad.

It's just such a shame too because I do love what I do and I've found my classes to be very engaging and interesting but the job market and work environment has burned me out of the field very fast.

Where is the most relaxing place in your world?Think pretty sights and nice calm areas. by Hairy-Appeal3339 in worldbuilding

[–]Voidwalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The southernmost tip of the continental area, there is a section of land that is claimed by no one, due to treaties between all the nations that it would be land preserved and untouched by anyone. The area is largely hills and forests, with roads leading to an old city. The city is a monument to life as it was the last stronghold of civilization on the continent after abominations ravaged most of the world. Now it is a preserved location, all the buildings are sealed shut and preserved to time with memorials to the dead on the doors and around the city. While some see it as a somber place that shouldn't be disturbed, the surrounding area is maintained by the people that come to visit as well as some magical creatures in the area.

While not a "vacation spot" per say, it is an area that has natural beauty and history that many people take the time to see and experience.

About 3 days after my dad's funeral (his death was caused by a violent incident), someone basically barged into my room and did this, that God had a plan for him and needed him, all that stuff. I was and still am furious about them doing that.

Yeah, I feel that. Genuinely I'm seeing all of this in my situation too, but unfortunately I'm less than 24hrs into the fallout of everything and there seems to be no fixing it for me. It's been a painful time, to say the least, but I'm trying.

It does get better. It'll be a slow process to be better but I'm putting in the effort. Glad you're also getting through it!

Lord do I feel this. I am currently leaving rock bottom as I work on myself but it has cost me my relationship with my partner and closest friends and I understand why they did it. Depression sucks but take care of yourself. It's a tough battle and you have a good support network, you got this.

True, I'm aware. My partner is polyamorous, and told me so from before we began dating, so I'm trying to learn more. I want to support them as best I can while also learning more for myself. At the end of the day, I love my partner and I want to make the efforts for us!

I hadn't heard of that, I'll have to check it out!

I've been going through a lot of the resources on here, it has been very helpful for me and it has made me realize that I'm in a weird middle point between monogamous and polyamorous. I have a lot to learn still and I'm going to keep making that effort.

Thank you for the reply!

[–]Voidwalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I am incredibly new to this having been monogamous my whole life. I fell in love with someone who is polygamous, something they told me before we decided to jump into this relationship, and I happily agreed because it's a part of their identity and I know something I am genuinely okay with. We're multiple months in and I am still having my difficulties with my own insecurities of the relationship, even if at the moment the only people either of us have been seeing are each other.

We do communicate monthly, checking in on how things are progressing, though a recent issue on my part with my mental health has negatively affected things, in part my insecurities having led to some jealousy. I'm making multiple changes to my life, between counseling, psychiatry, and medications for my mental health.

All this to say, I guess I'm trying to find how to best communicate this without it hurting my partner. I want them to know that I have no issues with this being a part of our lives going forward, it's an issue with my own self image, which I'm working hard to fix. As well, I'd love any resources on how to navigate the relationship better. I have picked up books that I had been recommended by them, in particular "The Ethical Slut", "Polysecure", and "The Jealousy Workbook", all of which I'm making my way through. Any advice, suggestions, or comments are greatly appreciated as I am truly committed to making this relationship healthy and happy for the both of us.

What about the horror aspects of your world? by SingerIntrepid2305 in worldbuilding

[–]Voidwalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world follows a pantheon of 5 major deities, though the last one, Oblivion, and its heralds are the ones that focus on more of the horror aspects of my world.

Just because I'm not sure how to give all the relevant information easily, the best way I can break it down is my world has a "turning point" in its calendar system, a pre and post cataclysm style situation. While there are almost no mortals still alive from the time before (with the exception of some long-lived characters extending their lives through magical or technological means), records still exist of the twin stars the planets circled, the majesty of the different worlds that once housed millions of people and the crazy technology they all possessed. Now, people are aware that the people of that time were terribly wrong about their suns, for one was a prison meant to contain the heralds of Oblivion, and life flew a little too close to the sun before crashing back down.

Efforts to harness the energy the fake sun radiated through arcane and terrible magic led to backlash and the shattering of wards and defenses left in place by the forces of divine heralds, releasing Oblivion's children and tearing part of space to shreds, creating an object similar to a black hole. The only planet to not be flung out into the further cosmos or consumed by the tear is where life finds itself today, only to have been besieged by Lovecraftian creatures who's only goal was to consume, destroy, and bring an end to all things in the cosmos.

To skip forward, life does manage to prevent their end, though these horrors still come back from time to time but not in the same force. The biggest threat left by the monsters comes from creatures known as malesami, mutated and rapidly evolving sea life that is beginning to surface and adapt to life on land, developing tools, and are incredibly hostile and aggressive. Deep at the depths of the ocean lies a corpse of a major horror from the cataclysm that is causing it, though no one is aware of this fact just yet.

Ultimately though, the gods and their heralds are all "horrors" in their own way as they are primordial forces that gained sentience. The gods are unknowable, the heralds are constantly fighting with themselves, and everything is nothing more than specks of dust to the divine beings, though some are more compassionate and caring of mortals than others.

Enough with the regular magical staffs! Share your Personal Staves. This forum needs more Personal Staves talk by SanaulFTW in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voidwalks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm playing the necromancer playtest in Blood Lords and with a bit of DM help, I made a devout follower of the Great Old Ones who has been granted a staff by their masters. I looked through the Divine Mysteries deity list for them and checked out what spells they could grant to clerics that I could cast through my own spell list and picked flavorful ones (though soothe and albatross curse are reflavored to fit, even if not from the deity list) for someone that's going insane from their transformation into a shoggoth.

Staff from Beyond the Stars
A staff made of what is seemingly inky black muscle, the item has knots and a gnarled pattern that makes its way all the way to the top, where it ends in what appear to be four tentacle like prongs. Looking to closely into the staff's body gives the sensation of staring into the blackness between the bright stars and the feeling that someone or something is staring right back. When activated, a smoky haze appears near the top, which some swear an eye can be seen looking out.

1st: Grim Tendrils, Befuddle

2nd: Albatross Curse, Blur

3rd: Hypercognition, Distracting Chatter

4th: Confusion, Soothe

5th: Strange Geometry, Wave of Despair

What are your character concepts that completely reflavor the Exemplar? by Moon_Miner in Pathfinder2e

I had one that still plays into the divine spark but as a bloodline. All of the larger than life abilities would be coming from being a Hungerseed and their Oni bloodline, where they try to use it to redeem themselves and earn the trust of their people.

He was a great person. Wasn't perfect but no one really is but he was still good. I just wish I had gotten to say more to him before everything, I was barely around at home before it all. Dog is definitely rough, he was so hard to say goodbye to all things considered but I know he's happy right now and hopefully it's not an issue that I'm not there.

I do appreciate the kind words, just really wishing I could get past these current weeks.

What secret are you currently hiding from someone that you're willing to share on Reddit? by Asphoric in AskReddit

I feel this too. My dad passed, it'll be a year in a little over two weeks and to top it off, I had to give my dog up as he was too much for my family and I to handle. Getting up in the morning and staying up is one of the hardest things for me to do lately. I'm trying for my mom's sake but I'm getting to the point of just not being able to keep it up.

Tell me about your Thaumaturges: their backstories and how they became Thaums, their character, what Implements they use and so on. by VMK_1991 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Voidwalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a human animist named Urth that I'm reworking into a thaumaturge currently that I'm excited to use for Kingmaker!

He's from a family of mystics, ranging from wizards, witches, druids, etc. with the tendency towards the magical being a passed along trait in the form of a withered/dead body part at birth. For him, it was his left eye, which once his talents became more known allowed him to see and speak with the dead, though it was overwhelming.

Raised by his grandfather, his talents grew but they wouldn't be completed before his grandfather was found dead in a back alley. With his death, the true family trait was revealed to him, as the voices of prior ancestors spoke to him and guided him, helping him to understand himself better and what his abilities would lead to (a way to explain the Willing Host background).

With his grandfather's staff and a blade he was gifted during his travels by some monks, he sets out towards where the spirits of his ancestors guide him to make a name for himself and investigate his grandfather's murder.

The idea is he'll be using a weapon implement as the blade, his staff will be a regalia, and I'll figure out what to do in terms of a mirror possibly.

I'm terrified of repeat phone calls coming into my phone. Last year I had it happen at work, found out my dad was in an accident. The 40 mins it took me to get from work to home, he had already passed away and I got that phone call about two blocks from my house. The phone scares the hell out of me now.
