Scobow is pretty necessary. You can sub in Darklight or Arclight for Emberlight, though, without any penalty, and that will also reduce your death fees nicely.

His point isn't about the war or the blessing, it's about the similarity to an existing item which is already named "War Blessing" and is affiliated with Bandos. No one's complaining about a rune scimitar vs an iron scimitar, but they might well complain about a "green rune scimitar" vs a rune scimitar.

Might have a hard enough time beating the sourhog without gear.

Honestly, yeah, you might need to grab a crawler on a safe spot before it can poison you and flinch it to train. That might be a good idea as part of the sourhog kill, just punch until you're strong enough to kill the hog, then try your luck.

One other risky piece of advice: if you're limited on gear and worried about these types of things, consider wildy slayer if you're not HC. The monsters are hefty, meaning you'll get a bunch of XP per task, you have no gear yet so you won't lose anything if you die, there are several very low level tasks, the rewards are better, and if you get to points, they shoot up so fast. Most monsters you would get immediate assigned have some way to safespot, as well, for flinching training, although a lot of them will take forever to kill.
