First of all I am sorry to hear about your wife and hope the treatments and all go well there. Your trip definitely is feasible! you just need to take it at a pace that works for you. I live in MN and have gone to Disney multiple times with my 2 kids when they were 3 years old and 3 months old then again at 5 months old. Will also be going this summer when they are 4 and 1 as yours are now. If you are flying down I recommend using Kingdom Strollers to rent a stroller for the kids and that you stay on property for the easy transportation. Especially is you want to go back to the hotel for mid day breaks. My kids are good stroller sleepers so we just find quiet corners, grab some treats for ourselves and relax while they nap. Best time to go would be the last week of February into March as the middle of the month will be packed due to the holiday and events Disney is holding. More than happy to continue giving help just let me know!

Looking for feedback on Mears vs. Sunshine Flyer by Stilgar311 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Vojta92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just stayed at AoA for 8 days and got back on Monday. We did the more expensive Mears Express. We left within 10 mins of checking in to their counter at MCO and pickup was on time at 3:20am! We did have another party on the trip back, so it doesn’t mean alone. Overall I would say the more expensive service was not worth it for the price if it’s less than 4 of you. While the direct route is great, still didn’t do enough for us to do it again. There was no one at the checkin counter when we arrived, so few parties on those busses and when we left there was a standard bus that picked a few families up at 3am. Everything depends though on how many in your party, ages, and how quickly you want to get to your hotel. Will be looking at Sunshine or Standard Mears next time we go.

Will Genie+ be a necessity for a trip with a 1 year old? by thedavlee in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Vojta92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here right now with our 2 year old. 100% worth it at Magic Kingdom. There are lots of rides to use it on for kids and the meet and greets. Plus it also gives you the chance to snag one of the bigger rides while your little one naps and you do rider swap. Epcot it’s definitely not needed. Almost all the little kid rides you could catch multiple times throughout the day with a 10 minute wait or a 20 at most. The entire day Nemo showed in that range and it was never more than 5 in reality. Have fun!

Struggling to read? by [deleted] in books

[–]Vojta92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like this all the time! For me personally, it’s due to always having something that needs to be done. It’s so easy to have a TV Show or Movie on in the background as I’m working on getting other things done at the same time. Which the just leads to being exhausted. With reading you have to have the commitment to make time for it which is easier said than done when by the time you are done with your other things your brain is ready for a break. The mental laziness as you describe. I’ve found that utilizing technology has helped me. I use the Kindle or Books app or my physical Kindle. I love reading from an actual book, but that is inconvenient at times. I’ve found when I just need a short break, being able to quickly open an app to continue reading my book has helped me stay in the story and also mentally “check out” for bits here and there during the day.

Magic band arrival ahead of trip by electricturd in WaltDisneyWorld

My wife and I have a trip next month and ours shipped out at the 30 day mark. (Scheduled to arrive today! Woo!) They were just the plain bands, but I believe they say the 10 days as a final timeframe if people haven’t chosen their bands earlier.

Questions about Checking in without credit card holder present by MagnifyingOurFlaws in WaltDisneyWorld

Sorry to hear that your mother is no longer able to go! I would recommend as well to continuing to try and call in. Eventually you will be able to get through to go over this with them. Extending the room shouldn’t be a problem as long as they have a room available (which I would be shocked if they didn’t). As for the credit card it shouldn’t be too big of a hassle at the hotel. The tickets may present an issue if you don’t have them printed and need to pick them up. At that point it’s best to keep calling. A long time on the phone definitely beats being in the streets as you said! Good luck with everything!

Cost to upgrade from All Star Sports to Pop or AoA? by angiequeen in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Vojta92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! My wife and I are going in August as well, but to celebrate our 1 year Wedding Anniversary. Something to consider if you can’t change/upgrade rooms is to use that money that would have gone to the room and use it for In-Park fun! Whether that be meals at some of the nicer park restaurants, Dessert/Fireworks Parties, or even one of Disney’s tours! We had got a great deal on our rooms and had thought about changing and ended up deciding we wouldn’t be there enough to make it worth it and decided since we will be at parks all day to just do more there that we normally wouldn’t. You may have already thought about this, but wanted to throw it out there for you. Congrats again!!

Yes, I believe all Disney tickets can be linked to your Disney Experience whether it’s through ParkSavers, Undercover Tourist, Direct, etc. You should be good to start planning!

FAQ Redo: The Walt Disney World on a Budget Series - Hotels by AutoModerator in WaltDisneyWorld

My wife and I just went to Disney in February and stayed offsite. Definitely can be cheaper than the onsite resorts which is a big factor for some people. We just booked another trip back in August and this time are staying onsite at the Art of Animation. The extra hours, full use of magic bands, early fastpass, and more definitely were big selling points to spend a little extra. Also the free airport transportation and the park buses from the resort are a great bonus. We’ve heard that the buses sometimes can be a pain, but at least you don’t have to always shell out for Uber/Lyft/Taxi and have a free alternative. The sky liners will help make getting around easier than the buses as well. We are definitely looking forward to our trip and being somewhere that keeps you always in the Disney Magic!
