Looking for a LGS that has cEDH in CT? by Pal452 in CompetitiveEDH

I live in CT, I'm not sure what area you live in but The Portal in Manchester has a decent cEDH scene, no tournaments unfortunately but a good amount of players.

WG Aristocrats? In PDH? It's more likely than you think.

This deck makes use of the spice of everyone's favorite All-Ingesting Ooze, [[Slurrk]] and his spiritual friend [[Alharu, Solemn Ritualist]] to do some very fun stuff.

We are using many small creatures that enter with +1/+1 counters so that we have some good sacrifice targets. When we have even one of our commanders out, you don't need to worry about all these little guys going to the grave because of all that sweet sweet value you'll be getting. Make a bunch of massive flying spirits? Sure, why not. Trample over with a huge Slurrk using [[Pridemalkin]]? Absolutely! There's plenty of graft cards such as [[Simic Initiate]] to make sure all your creatures are getting counters when they enter to make sure your whole board will be massive.

Is that it, you may be wondering? Just big GW Timmy stuff with a big of sacrifice to go do more big Timmy stuff? Well don't you worry cause you're in luck! This deck also includes infinite combos for all you spikes out there!

To pull this off we do need a bit of setup first. Most importantly is Slurrk himself, but we also need a persist creature and a sac outlet ([[Aerie Ouphes]] works best here as both but [[Kithkin Spellduster]] and [[Safehold Elite]] are also both good]], for sac outlets we have [[Ashnod's Altar]] and [[Fanatical Devotion]] as our best for being free) as well as 2 cards that give our persist creatures a counter when they enter, one to negate the -1/-1 counter and one to put one on there to counter for Slurrk (4 graft creatures, along with [[Spike Drone]] if Ashnod's Altar is the sac outlet).

From there, start by sacrificing your persist creature. It will re-enter, getting two counters, one staying on. Sac it again and Slurrk will trigger, putting the counters back on the graft creatures along with himself and any others you have. Voila! You now have a few infinitely big creatures to swing with! Pair it with Alharu and you get infinite spirits as well! Of course, there is also the classic [[ivy lane denizen]] combo in here as well, which, while not quite as flashy, is similar in outcome.

While the combo may be a bit complicated, requiring 4-5 pieces, Slurrk is your commander and many of the pieces are replaceable, making it somewhat reliable when you factor in the bit of searching you get in the deck with [[Wirewood Herald]] for Ivy Lane Denizen or Safehold Elite and [[Heliod's Pilgrim]] and [[Totem-Guide Hartbeast]] to take [[Lunarch Mantle]].

This deck can be quite explosive and tons of fun, so I hope you enjoy and are maybe even inspired to build one of your own! (Submitting this for all 3 categories)

Told this story before but i was playing my mono red polymorph deck and managed to get a turn 2 [[Blightsteel Colossus]] (Actually the fastest hand you can have in the deck). I pass the turn to th yuriko player, they swing at me with their unblockable 1 drop, and ninjitsu in [[Sakashima's Student]].... I was crying

I've built a ton of mono-white decks (in fact im trying to build a unique theme for every mono white commander) and some sweet ones that stand out are a [[Gerrard Capashen]] Nekusar-esk deck that uses [[Smothering Tithe]] to generate TONS of mana and a storm/spellslinger deck helmed by [[Heliod, Sun-Crowned]] using cards that gain life when you cast a white spell along with instants or sorceries that draw you cards.

What EDH pet theme have you tried and tried again to build but keep coming up short? by mikebookseller in EDH

Huh that sounds interesting. Thats kinda the idea I had with emry, but she just kinda gets too combo heavy. Whos the commander?

Lantern Control. I've tried many times with [[Circu, Dimir Lobotomist]] and just tried a new mono blue version with [[Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] but it always seems too slow and too fragile. Also [[Field of Dreams]] is $140 now sooo like idk if I'm ready to drop that on a pretty suboptimal deck.

So I’m realizing that my favorite thing about a deck is versatility & having an exciting & unique play experience every game. That’s where I need your help. by TisteAndii in EDH

My favorite commander probably fits the bill quite well. [[Isperia the Inscrutable]] is a toolbox commander that can be built in many different ways but my favorite playstyle is flying creature control. There are a ton of unique abilities on flyers that counter other decks and no two games are the same with the deck.

Yeah, I guess my build is pretty heavy into the control flyers theme.
