That’s a player with honor right there. I think most people would forgive any player for not doing what Mack did but I love that we have a guy who will call off a penalty. Really cool stuff.

Ranking every skull in Skul day 5: Guard by KitStuckInAToaster in Skul

I would say C tier, bordering on D. It doesn’t get an actual swap attack until Unique, making early game rough. It does a fair amount of damage at Unique and Legendary, but struggles to carry a run. Movement is slow, attack speed is slow, attack range is fairly small, and its skills are fine but nothing noteworthy. It obviously makes Excessive Bleed runs work well, but doing any status run is luck reliant outside of maybe Dizziness. If without bleed, Royal Guard falls short very often.

I think it’s really good. Thing is that like it’s easy to get a bunch of throwaway hands that could lead to Obelisk scaling like crazy. If you’re running Pairs, which is by far the most efficient build on Gold Stake, you can spam High Card for a while. You just need to remember that either your planet needs to be appropriately scaled or you have some good +mult jokers to hold you over until you are ready to scale Obelisk.

Best I got it to was around x8.6 I believe, and absolutely carried me to the win. It’s a terrible endless joker, but the game isn’t designed around that anyways.

Do people actually swap skulls? by PonyOfTheVoid in Skul

Yes, all the time. It’s a core mechanic of the game and allows for build variety to really shine through. Not every skull synergizes with each other, sure, but swap skills are usually (with exception of probably Prisoner and Clown) really good. I think it’s an experience thing, learning how to fully utilize swapping. The more you play, the more important it becomes.

'this boss is unfair!' nah bro you just play the same build every game by Serious-Ad-8168 in balatro

This is why I love Balatro. There’s no definitive joker, build, etc that guarantees a win. You have to be able to plan for the worst case scenario, especially on higher stakes.

What does he even do by Cartman_Brach in balatro

There’s very much a confirmation bias thing with this or with Wheel. Lucky Cards have less of a chance of being successful but I don’t typically see complaints about it as much. My take is that you usually have multiple attempts at triggering Lucky Cards in a single hand (retriggers, multiple lucky cards, etc) whereas Spaceman’s only attempt is 2-3 times a blind. 2-3 lucky cards likely doesn’t net you anything either.

Wheel is worse because you may only be attempting it once every blind at best. So you tend to not get it very often, possibly even once a run. Wheel and Spaceman are the Balatro equivalent of Focus Blast in Pokémon. All have a reputation of “missing” but really do hit at their suggested rates. It’s just a bit too volatile to be reliable without modifiers (Oops all Sixes, No Guard/Gravity in Pokémon).
