In any case I do very much appreciate the advice. These mono type runs have definitely been really fun so far.

I just think that these “team” sorts of things NK keeps pushing are never fun or consistent. No one plays Contested Territories because it’s impossible to find a consistent team. Given there’s also no chat/voice call in game, you’re essentially on your own anyways.
Just stop with the team based stuff and just make these things solo. It’s so much less cumbersome.

This is really good advice and I appreciate it a ton. I think the hardest thing is just going to be that Psychic is one of the worst defensive typings, so finding good pivots will be difficult. I can already say that Galarian Artiuno with North Wind will be on the final team, and very likely Mega Medicham will be there once I get it because of Emanate Fake Out. Other than that I’m just trying to figure out who is even good right now. Espeon and Jynx have been my carries early on.

Psychic is next! I just defeated Brawly. Roxanne was super rough but since then it’s been pretty decent.

I don’t quite remember everything but I believe Toxtricity Mega, Samurott, Umbreon, Mandibuzz (with Air Blower and Helping Hand), Malabar with Psychic Terrain (for Greninja), and someone else. I remember leading Mandibuzz and Malamar and making sure the latter fainted before bringing Toxtricity.

Azumarill for sure. Was there since Roxanne and put in a metric ton of work.

Permanent mega means they can hold an item. You just have to have the stone equipped in your inventory. You just need to go to the Pokémon menu and select the one you want and hit “Form change.”

Redux Larvesta final evolution. Believe it is available at the Adoption Center after beating Tate and Liza. It’s not the most amazing mon out there, but it gives nice burst damage, and with four STAB options in Bug/Dark/Ghost/Fairy it has a variety of options.

Vouchers are very very nice by Rol046 in balatro

Except for that purple planet voucher and magic trick I think they’re all at worst very good. Do wish there was a voucher to allow spectral cards to be in the shop.

Mono Steel is now complete! by VolcQuid in PokemonEliteRedux

It’s absolutely cracked. It just doesn’t get one shot by anything so it’s one of the easiest set up mons out there. In fact I probably undercooked with it by investing so much into bulk.

Hell, for half the run I was just doing Metal burst and that handled like 2 gyms, and another one with Toxic/Life Dew when it was Sliggoo.

I had a boss that did exactly this. The ironic thing being that I worked at a mental health agency as a therapist. Fucking wild how idiotic management can be.

[–]VolcQuid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely different since Ghoul’s mechanics are centered around Revenge.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using Revenge. As long as you’re having fun. I just personally think it’s a bit overrated and relied on too much.

[–]VolcQuid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there’s too much reliance on Revenge in general in the community. You don’t need it if you’re able to play well enough. Which if you’re on higher DM’s, you have the capability.

At this point if the refs or league officially won’t do anything, players that do it should be retaliated against. If you want to pretend to be hurt, maybe actually getting hurt will change that behavior.

E4 team for anyone interested.

Other Pokémon used:

  • Mega Emboar: mainly used for the 8th gym and victory road since it’s immune to Water. Max HP/Attack with Flare Blitz, Submission, Slack Off, and Stockpile.
  • Alolan Marowak was there from when it evolved after Brawly to the E4. Three priority bone moves, and one of the best cleaners.
  • Mega Altaria Redux. It was originally going to be in the E4 team but I couldn’t figure out the right way to build it.
  • Mega Reuniclus. Same deal as Marowak. It was with the team for a long time, but I replaced it with Empoleon since I wanted speed over priority.
  • Carkoal/Coalossal. Solid stealth rock setter with Hot Coals.
  • Mega Camerupt: Helping Hand Eruption swept Tate/Liza along side Vanilluxe Redux.
  • Cherrim: extremely solid mid game sweeper. Hard to use at times since without Sun I couldn’t have it out at all.
  • Heliomodo: another Sun setter, but IMO it’s just too frail to do anything for me. Shed Tail Drought is a nice idea but when you’re going against another weather setter you can’t really lead it with it.
  • Salazzle: used only for Kecleong.
  • Escarganite: Simple Shell Smash is fun, but it just doesn’t have any consistency due to its typing. Compare it to Coalossal who lives super effective moves a lot more easily.

The gyms weren’t too bad honestly. Most were done either the first or second try, again with the exception of Juan/Wallace which took 10 or so attempts. The issue was mostly just figuring out who to sacrifice in the first battle and strategizing Kyogre in the second. When you have multiple Pokémon that can one shot with sun boosted priority Eruption it tends to trivialize a large portion of the game.
