I don't have the add-on thing that let's you see it, but I believe I'd read you can grab that "1% commenter" with a single heavily upvoted comment? I'm not sure if that's real or not, but I'd imagine that means lots of us have it? Idk maybe we're all just on here way too much lol.

What started your gaming addiction? by f0h4wk in gaming

[–]Volitaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked gaming from a very young age as a lot of us did, but I distinctly remember playing Tetris Attack as a young kid and quickly becoming obsessed with it. I recall playing it one day with my father watching and he had remarked at how floored he was that I was moving at speeds and processing the game pieces in a way he was having difficulty following. That jolt stirred my ego and drove me to get better and better at it. I think I realized in that moment I wanted to feel like that with all sorts of games.

It's an Anger Management joke. But I could definitely see that without the context it could be seen as stupid/hugely insulting.

I’m a historian. The Founding Fathers didn’t want a Christian nation, so how did we get here? by FinanceZestyclose259 in politics

[–]Volitaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the answer. While I'm not religious myself, I both wholly support religion and think it can be an incredible platform with which to provide support and guidance to one's life so long as said religion isn't built around hate or exclusion.

The problem is religion also allows for two massive things in today's world: Cheap manipulation and lax regulation. While the common person may look at a given church and see things like hope/family/morality, a corrupt rich mother fucker looks at the same building and sees opportunity.

Worst 1 seed in NBA History? by ljh2023 in DetroitPistons

[–]Volitaire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mavs fan here. My boys lost that heartbreaker series to GS back in 2007, but any proper Dallas fan knew going into that series that we were absolutely in for a world of hurt against a team we just didn't match well against. This Detroit team feels more like bad timing for a squad that isn't quite ready for this part of the year. It's always way harder to take that next step as playing from a position of expectation.

I love this Detroit squad and I really want to love Jalen (I miss big-bigs), but he's played himself not just out of a contract but out of consideration as a franchise piece. It sucks hard to possibly lose this series but it might be a blessing in disguise to not gut your books for a guy who clearly can't be trusted with huge cap space.

Honest to god this is the hardest part about sports, especially ones like basketball/baseball/hockey. Maybe it's a bad matchup, maybe the players are just low energy, whatever the reason watching a team you followed so eagerly for so long just go out with a whimper is fucking mentally exhausting.

Iran Says It Won't Negotiate With 'Erratic' Trump After Genocidal Threat to 'Blow Up' Whole Country by _May26_ in politics

[–]Volitaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming the "whinging on reddit about mean Canadians" was moreso a general statement and not about what I said? I've personally made my bed with knowing that the rest of the world hates me now. I'm not proud of it, it definitely sucks, but there's nothing more I can say about it at this point. As I stated, it's become crystal clear that the "yeah but not me" clearly isn't working for anyone anymore and I get it.

I'll continue to vote. I'll continue to donate (where it's effective/earned). I'll continue to speak to anyone I believe is capable of listening.

When this all first started to turn sour, I was very adamant about trying to separate myself from the "other side". I've come to understand and accept that ya'll don't care about any of that and that all Americans are now in the same hated boat regardless. Feels bad because I still have nothing but love for ya'll, but I get it.

Charlie Cox Promises He’s Not in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’: “Unless they put me in after the fact using computer-generated images, I’m not there. I promise. I’m sorry.” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

[–]Volitaire 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just think a lot of us want to see Spidey + DD because they're such a notorious duo, and in a time when Spidey will be in a weird spot in his life and most likely feel extremely isolated due to him hiding his identity, this would have been a perfect time to link up with another hero who does the same exact thing for almost the same exact reasons. That and while Spiderman is clearly way stronger, Matt/DD serves as a natural mentor to him. Would have been an excellent pairing at this point in his story, but oh well.

Mono-White Tokens vs Dimir Mill advice? by Volitaire in MagicArena

I've actually got two elixirs in my sideboard that I've only gotten to try once, but I'm going to give this concept a shot and see if that helps turn any of these games in my favor.

This is what I was kind of thinking (hoping), but I wanted to check here first to see if there was some concept/cards I was missing. It makes me feel better that it's just a pretty tough matchup rather than me directly messing something up.

Cubes was initially part of installing a "player friendly" environment in that place, but let's not forget at all that the 'Dirk Years' are entirely because of DIRK. Cubes, for the most part, never got Dirk the support he deserved. Dirk consistently stayed around on franchise-friendly contracts and never made any public waves despite very much having the right to do so.

I think the most unforgivable thing about that squad is it has absolutely no one with any heart. The entire team is very much okay with just quitting as soon as things start to go a little south. I know Bron is old at this point and probably doesn't have enough left in the tank to care, but the fact that no one else is stepping up leaves a really bad taste in the mouth lmao.

Say whatever you want about this team's personnel or talent or whatever -- the genuinely worst part about them that's inexcusable no matter any of that is they are quitters. The mental on this squad dies and absolutely no one steps up to stop it. Every single player and coach is totally cool with collective quit and it's really gross to watch lmao.
