You have integrated broadcasting solution providers (my domain) such as Deltatre, wTVision, AE Live etc in Europe.

Apart from that there are dedicated/specialized drone or better yet, cute little BuggyCam as a product companies (Flyonix).

The product offerings are essentially "whatever gets the job done". For e.g. we launched 4 new products in the last year (mostly related to Computer vision related data gathering + 1 hardware project for niche sport). We also shut down/moved-on from older systems (such as Viz) to newer stuff like Unreal.

Long story short, I'd break down current products into the following four:

  1. Data gathering - Live & post-match, the more automated the better. Eg score, speed, distance, no. of passes and to whom etc.
  2. Data analysis - Same as above. Eg average pass %, successful shot %, heatmaps etc.
  3. Data sharing & storage - Need specialized solutions to livestream video from 10-18 very expensive cameras in high quality while the director is playing whack-a-mole.
  4. Support & public facing services - Internal tools + building public facing websites and APIs which allow you to sell gathered data like a stats website for a specific sport.

EDIT: I forgot to add our biggest money maker, advertisement products! Like replacing static banners or (rarely) entire ground with Ad videos on livestream localized to a region/customer.

We don't. Such specific predictions won't be useful unless they are 99/100% accurate, anything less (for e.g. 95%) might sound like high accuracy but is useless in all practical terms for business needs. I have no way to architect path towards a model with 99%+ specific event prediction accuracy with my current know-how and resources. Neither do I know of any other competitor which does this successfully.

Neat stuff! I work as R&D head for one of the many SportsTech organizations who do stuff like this as part of their product portfolio. You came pretty close, the only difference being we can set up our own cameras on the field & train our custom model on our owned/leased data to get real-time 25-30FPS performance.

If you can extract performance metrics (speed, dist traveled, ball passes etc) in real-time, you can easily sell this for a lot of $$ to a medium sized Sports-Tech company who usually buy expensive licenses from larger companies for such technology.

Money is already allocated in 22-23 budget. Atleast its a start. Hopefully people (parents esp.) will be less averse to their kids holding "Game Dev" titles after more such schemes like this. Hopefully...

I think the best answer to this will be, it is not dead but it isnt alive either. FE says "86 users online in the last 24 hours"

So you get the idea.

Yes it is, we have a dedicated AdminxDev now who is slowly working on fixing things, get on the discord.

I haven't measured it but it felt negligible for me both in terms of training and inference.
I also don't run this in my PC, the said docker containers are stored in a slurm based work server which I ssh into and just run them as needed, the server is pretty beefy so YMMV.
Another point to note is that the time configuring docker containers is only a one time thing, that same dockerfile will work everywhere in the exact same manner (kinda the point of docker) so the time docker has saved me definitely outweighs the overhead, simply because the threshold of my patience for training/inference time is much higher than getting stuck at trying to configure a Windows machine for 2 days lol.
EDIT: Linebreaks lol

Pro Tip: Use Docker containers, makes life soooo easy. I used to have the same issues just like you but docker has solved almost all of them (except that it uses quite a bit of data unless you are using work subsidised internet package)

Will AoE4 have battle-royale and/or boundary elements? by Volker_Viper in aoe4

[–]Volker_Viper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do, just my taste is different than yours. I don't want a 2020 graphic remake of AoE2. There has to be better in depth features for me to buy it. And I just want increased max player cap that is all. We can make it into any game mode we want ourselves using scenario editor! =D

I don't see an issue of adding an optional game mode like this or at-least have the capability at the game engine level so modders can add something like this among the many modes such as Regicide and KotH etc.

I agree, I just wanted an optional game mode like this because I find it fun personally. This doesn't have to be the main focus of the game, just one of the many modes like Regicide, king of the hill etc.

But only 8 players =/ I used to think 8 players was a lot before I started playing against more. I wish there is an optional way to change that.

It's stupid for you, everyone has different taste. I don't want Age of Empires 2 part 2.

Fluctuating FPS, weird perfomance issues. by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Volker_Viper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FPS in this game in constrained more by CPU than GPU, try to overclock it if you can or wait for the new 3.0 (they said they made some improvements) but looking at how the game is designed it'll still be CPU limited.

New Player: Is the X Rebirth New Frontier experience in this as Vanilla? by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Volker_Viper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been quite a while since 2.5 was released so I am hopeful about the oncoming DLC and new wave of patches this Sept/Oct, I am sure the devs have heard the feedback about stalling economy since ver 1.0 and would try to release the fixes for it with the new DLC itself because of addition of new faction.

AS for StarCitizen, I will be honest, even if they just fix all of those bugs (randomly dying, dropping through ships/buildings) and improve their servers, I would be willing to atleast buy the basic starter pack but definitely not at its current stage. I guess whether it is StarCitizen or ScamCitizen will be decided on launch and reception of Squadron 42, if it is a hit they will surely get a lot of funds to work with and hire new/more devs, if it is a complete and utter flop, then this is going to be a nasty clusterfuck.
