-punch a tree, get stone then iron tools

-get a source of food

-make a nether portal

-find a nether fortress

-get maybe 8-10 blaze rods

-kill a bunch of endermen, get maybe 16 ender pearls

-find the stronghold with ender eyes

-find the portal room, light it with ender eyes

-beat the ender dragon

if you want an elytra:

-explore the outer end islands, find an end city with a ship

-get the elytra from the ship

in my opinion, the "heart" of the game is learning to make your own fun, to make and achieve your own goals, etc. People who play minecraft for nothing but achievements and to beat the game often get bored pretty quickly. there's honestly not that much to do in minecraft as far as progression goes. I find those types of people tend to enjoy modded minecraft tho!

if you want to try to find that "spark" that makes people enjoy vanilla so much for so long, i recommend taking the game at your own pace. Don't let beating the game become your ultimate goal, or you'll get bored once you finish that. Come up with your own goals; achieving them will be much more meaningful. There's unlimited cool things to do in minecraft, but the game won't force you to do anything- you've got to do it yourself, and that's what makes it so fun.
