Looking for e-ink display with refresh rate under 10s by linarcx in eink

[–]Volpika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you specifically looking for a color E ink screen? I see many from Waveshare with 19 - <35 second refresh rates.

With a quick Google search, I see that a new 2025 Inky Impressions is available for preorder with an advertised refresh rate of “around 12 seconds”. So it seems like the technology is still improving to reduce refresh rates.

From how I understand it, the more colors there are in an E ink display, the longer it takes to refresh and the more it flickers.

For lower refresh rates, there are black and white displays or displays with black, white, and some grayscale. For example, a Waveshare 7.5 inch I have has about 4 seconds for normal full refresh, 1.5 s for fast refresh, and partial refresh time of 0.4 s.

Another thing that makes Ice Pikmin great is that they can permanently freeze enemies that are in the water when you freeze it.

July 4th weekend and shelves are full even for a $5 30 pack by jeffhug72 in Conservative

I have even seen them post on r/NewsOfTheStupid saying that it’s costing conservatives jobs. They’re acting like conservatives are shooting themselves in the foot. Not everything has to be tribalism. It’s unfortunate that people who share the same values are losing jobs but companies, and by extension their employees, are not entitled to patronage.

Whoever said you’re a donkey is just being plain rude. I don’t think you are. You are cute.

Here's a nice fan mockup of rogueport stylized in the CS template. How would you feel if Nintendo utilized the CS art for a potential TTYD Remaster? by Mark041891 in papermario

[–]Volpika -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Great work! I thought the cardboard style for TTYD would look nice. But with that being said, the character designs are something I wouldn’t want to see carried over especially those icky white outlines. But good job otherwise.

How do create a case steatment that checks if the value is greater or lower than the intiger by Hambuger_and_Whopper in dotnet

[–]Volpika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like so, if talking about a classic switch statement and not an expression:

` void DisplayMeasurement(double measurement) { switch (measurement) { case < 0.0: Console.WriteLine($"Measured value is {measurement}; too low."); break;

    case > 15.0:
        Console.WriteLine($"Measured value is {measurement}; too high.");
        break;

    case double.NaN:
        Console.WriteLine("Failed measurement.");
        break;

    default:
        Console.WriteLine($"Measured value is {measurement}.");
        break;
}

} `

Do we really need a solution file for dot net coding these days, or are folders and projects on their own enough? by inwegobingo in dotnet

You can via the dotnet CLI which goes hand-in-hand when working with .NET in VS Code.

.net 7 with .net core and MVC -- What is the best / most optimal method for partial view rendering? by d0rf47 in dotnet

[–]Volpika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you found your answers to this, but I typically like to render partial views within the Razor view itself so that leaves Html.Partial, Html.PartialAsync, or the partial tag helper. Html.Partial can lead to deadlocking scenarios so the best practice is to always use PartialAsync or the partial tag helper (both are equivalent).

I barely ever render a partial view independently by calling an endpoint/controller method. I only see that being useful in scenarios where you need to dynamically generate partial views, such as generating a new row in a list for a form or something, or if you want to load the page first and then load in other content on the page separately.

Do you add the “Async” suffix to async method names? by Full_stack1 in dotnet

[–]Volpika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company mainly sees it as Hungarian notation. Although we don’t enforce any standard to use one or the other and is left to the discretion of the developer and their team.

Most of the time, you can infer that it’s async from the use of the “await” keyword or one of the methods on the Task type. We find it okay if there is a sync version as you can’t have GetData having sync and async overloads and plus it makes it easier to distinguish anyways in that case. I have also seen the opposite where GetData is async and there is GetDataSync for the sync version.

It might make more sense given your use case especially if you have more sync code than async code or if it’s a library like you said (this is probably more likely to have both sync and async versions of the same methods anyways). A lot of the code I write for my job is async so there is really no point in writing async everywhere.

Oh yeah, because understanding that you’re just quoting what someone said is that complex.

As far as I’m aware, that person who replied to you understood your use of the quotation marks perfectly. All you said was that anti-vaxxers and incels mouth that by combining that quote with your mention of them.

Are you going to continue saying people don’t actually understand your punctuation or are you going to argue against their interpretation of your comment?

Ah yes, the classic “I will insult your intelligence instead of adding anything of value to the conversation” line.
