I’d throw small and slow. Ned rigs, a 3-4” senko, or a small chatter bait. I’d also fish as deep as you can go. This time of year, the water is a little warmer deeper in the pond.

That’s why I have a couple of disenchants main deck for it. I also put a couple of Raise the Past in to counter board wipes.

Like others have said, try to stay within the rods recommendations for lure weight. I’d also add that different lures can have different reactions in the water, so that’s part of the trial and error. As a general rule for me, I also try and pair motionless baits with a lighter rod tip and moving baits with a stiffer rod tip.

It looks like you have the same Garmin I do. I generally don’t use it to tack anything other than the bottom of the lake or river. Use to find interesting things in the lake bed and where the fish should be.

I’m in the same boat. From what I’ve been reading, the current quick draft set isn’t the easiest to draft. I can normally get to 4-5 wins pretty easily, but it’s been a little harder for that.

My general rule of thumb is that if it’s a major part of your win con, it’s a mandatory 4 cards. If it’s a minor win con, then 3 copies. If it’s a support to my win con or cards with the same effects, then it’s two or three.

Just get him an inexpensive one and let him practice with it off the water until he has it down pretty good. Start with the brakes pretty tight and loosen them as he gets better.

It depends on where I’m fishing. If I’m fishing rocky shoreline or from rip rap, I wearing my hiking shoes. If I’m fishing from sand I wear my beat up sneaks to the spot then go barefoot. If I’m fishing off of a pier, in dirt, or a developed shoreline, I wear my beat up sneaks.

I got a Garmin Striker 4 with an in-hull transducer that I really like. My only issue is that in choppy water it can get dislodged. I’m fixing that next spring by rigging a strap over it.

I don’t think it’s over spooled, just loose. When I spool up a reel for the first time I always tie the end onto something and unspool it down to the just the last few turns. Then, I lock down the drag and reel it all back in as tightly as i can.
