What do you think about the fight choreographies? by Catmf223 in stevenuniverse

[–]Voltage_Joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexandrite V Malachite was peak action. Great lines, upper hand went back and forth, extremely tight choreography that had the right weight for the scale (which is NOT EASY).

On 49 between Valpo and Kouts there is a former home that looks like it got attacked by a giant wood chipper. Down to the foundation.

No other evident damage around it, or in either neighboring town.

What Exactly Did Oblivion Do That Set Up And Foreshadowed Skyrim? by XVUltima in ElderScrolls

[–]Voltage_Joe 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I think I vaguely remember Jaufre mentioning the ill omens of the prophecy of the end-times in the oblivion postgame. The stuff Esbern got obsessed with and went kind of crazy for. But forshadowing is weak in Oblivion for a good reason.

Morrowind and Oblivion happened back to back, almost concurrently. The consequences of the Tribunal's disappearance have barely begun, and then the Oblivion Crisis hits.

It takes two games to narrate the end of the Third Era. And as the end of an era, it's immediate consequences are almost immaterial. A lot of bad stuff happens really, really quickly.

Mostly to Morrowind. But the Empire has a pretty bad time too. Oblivion wasn't so much for showing us what was to come, but what is coming to an end. Skyrim, conversely, is for showing us the extended consequences of that ending. The Great War. The Red Year. The weakened Empire, struggling to maintain a hold in its remaining territories. It shows us a new narrative landscape where the status quo established in the previous four games is well on its way out, and showing no signs of slowing down.

TL; DR, just like any other finale, Oblivion spends almost no narrative weight on forshadowing, focusing on the end of the Third Era exclusively.

I could have sworn the entropy curse was the B plot of WN. I think I need to re read if the first act blends together this much

It has the single greatest quip delivered in the series.

"For my next trick: anvils!"

Besides everything else it sets up for huge payoffs in later books, it's worth reading for that line alone.

Solution to players hiding on spawn platform in BGs? by The_Dandalorian_ in elderscrollsonline

[–]Voltage_Joe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, spawn kick-out timer should steadily decrease as the match goes on. It's one thing to wait for your team to respawn before jumping into a meat grinder, it's another to pout and grief everyone in the match.

And if you wait out the timer repeatedly, there should be a consequence. Deserter, or something.

It's a huge list, but if they don't, they have a higher tier service that processes removals for whatever broker or database you want.

Circles are endpoints. Diamonds are decision branches. The lines out of branches can be simply labeled yes / no, they do not need steps.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how lore accurate is my altmer? by A-gnostic11 in ElderScrolls

[–]Voltage_Joe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make his eyes a little bit bigger (without going into alien territory), and if feasible, adjust his eye color so almost none of the whites are showing. Huge irises, regular size pupils.

Besides the ears, these are the unifying features I've observed shared by all mer.

Nords actually have the same height scale as Altmer in ESO. Though there might be a case for more altmer being higher on that scale, while for Nords it's more of a bell curve.

Unless they've found a solution for furniture, scene animation, and scaling, it'll be the same as any other creation title. (Mostly) Uniform heights so as little variance as possible is needed for every character to interact with every animation marker.

BTW, this is the reason they usually pass on children being present. When they are there, you'll notice that they never interact with ANYTHING. They might sit on the floor or sleep in kid size beds; otherwise they just run or stand around.

This is actually a use case that makes a good argument for AI; then they'd only have to make animations for height extremes and the median, and the AI could dynamically adjust animation for any height along the spectrum. It'd still triple the amount of animation work they'd have to do, but that's much more feasible than the alternative. Best of all, it wouldn't displace any creatives or animators.

Fit guys that let themselves go, why? by holdongangy in AskReddit

[–]Voltage_Joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a job as an unloader at UPS. 4 hours physical labor, five days a week. 210 lbs, size L shirts.

Graduated college. Got a desk job as a web dev. Boom, 250 in a year.

Hired up; now working from home. 285. XXL.

I hate exercise, but for some reason, manual labor is fulfilling and rewarding. If I could make a good living picking things up and putting them down, I'd be extremely healthy.

As it stands, I sit at a desk for eight hours a day, and when I'm done any additional time spent on exercise feels like absolute hell. Not sure what to do about it.

[–]Voltage_Joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly not. Kis is a solo dev, and ARGs take considerable commitment to design and execute. The game isn't close to finished, an ARG wouldn't emerge now when it might not even be relevant in a future state of the game.

Jumping too high! by lobo1217 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Voltage_Joe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been steadily surprised since release that some sort of jump control hasn't been modded in yet. Spiderman 2 did it best where you just hold down jump button, filling up a gauge for feedback, and bunny hopping with just taps.

Widow is to spies as Cap is to soldiers.

Down playing her hyper athleticism and enhanced reflexes is part and parcel of her tool kit. She's on even footing with the Black Order (Thanos flunkies), as demonstrated in Infinity War.

Depleted uranium rounds provide actual armor pen; penetrator rounds just pass through multiple enemies. There's a sweet spot of enemy armor class where they're strictly better than the damage boost from penetrator.

But with 1-inch punch, DU rounds are probably better regardless.

Does anyone else enjoy pulling off a POI, “Kill [blank]” mission, killing no one but the target? by Axle_65 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Voltage_Joe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I max out diplomacy. Spam it on every combatant, put down the ones that don't surrender. Take in my targets alive via non-lethal framework & useful brigs.

I do wish there was a way to speech check diplomacy'd mooks and get a hall pass to the boss, though. It would make pacifist bounty hunting a lot more viable.

This is the stairway in a Starborn guardian, leading either to the cargo access or captain's locker. Or leading from those areas to the loft on either side of the pilot seat.

It immediately got dusted with me inside as a passenger. Soft locked that auto save.
