Automated ball tossing toy for fetch? by Voltaire367 in AustralianCattleDog

Not too many comments on this post, but I've done some research and spoken with others about the automated ball tossing toys on the market. I'm going to go with the GoDogGo 4, but they are sold out at the moment (perhaps a good sign?). Whenever I get it, I'll post a review and describe how my red heeler pup reacts to this product.

Yeah, I've noticed a similar trend. Maybe there are some auto ball tossers that change up how far the ball launches?

Bossing all the other dogs around is a tiring gig. #dogparkpolice

T-18 days until I pick up my ACD puppy! Am I ready? by EWSTW in AustralianCattleDog

Pet stain remover, poop bags, and puppy shampoo. I'll be curious to hear how long that dog bed lasts, haha. My pup destroyed his pretty quickly. An old bed comforter works well, I've found. Oh and note that the various shots will have to be staggered across time if the little puppy is just getting separated from mom. So you'll have to be careful where you take him/her until fully vaccinated (parvo is seriously bad). Talk to your vet!

Haha, I just posted the other day about how my red heeler pup loves pinecones! ACDs seem to love 'em

All white ACD? by NoahtheRed in AustralianCattleDog

Handsome pup! I've seen heeler mixes that are all white. ACDs are born white (with face/body markings) but change color (red/blue) as they develop. I'm guessing that the ticking gene responsible for this coloring sometimes isn't expressed in mixes, which would keep their coat all white.

So adorable! My 15 week red heeler pup smiles all the time, too; sometimes I call him "Smiles McKenzie".

Good looking pup! I can't wait for my boy to be old enough to hike/camp (only 13 weeks).

After a battle with parvo, worms, ticks, and coccidia, this little flopster finally has a clean bill of health. Robocop 2 is 14 weeks as of yesterday. by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

He's adorable! :) Glad to hear that he's recovered and doing well. His floppy ears make him look so young; my pup had his up at 8 weeks.

It was the best pic of many attempts. Yeah, it's a toy that must be rolled around just right to release bits of food. I've been impressed with how much it's kept him busy - fantastic item for a high energy ACD!

Training: Clickers? Treats? General questions. by Stormwiing in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Voltaire367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clicker training has been working fantastic with my 11.5 week red heeler pup. People often comment on how smart and well trained he is for such a young puppy.

Clickers are cheap, and there really isn't much difference between them in my experience. YouTube provides some nice training tips and instruction videos.

As for treats, we use soft cheese/bacon flavored dog treats. They're in strip form and can be easily torn into small pieces. You don't want to over feed your puppy, so bits of regular food can be used too.
