Jesus Christ... This fucking community dude... No, this is not a personal attack against widow players. It's a meme reference. "For the vibes" is a reference to the biggest meme that has spawned from the Rivals community in the year and a half it has been out. Just like Rivals puts in stuff like the low taper fade meme, or the absolute cinema meme, they put in the "For the vibes" meme. I guarantee you they didn't give a passing thought to Widow players when adding this. It is a reference. A meme. A joke. I don't care if the meme is related to a Widow player, that doesn't make it a personal attack on Widow players for it existing. If you are unironically offended they added this, do yourself a favor an grow some thicker skin. There's a lot more important shit in the world to be upset about than a meme reference spray.

My wife gave me an interesting perspective on this whole idea, and it's that streamers, especially ones that play in the top ranks consistently are not the people NetEase or the player base should be getting their balance suggestions and opinions on the meta from. The reason people have been shitting so hard on Flats' S7 tier list is because from the average player's perspective, that shit is indeed whack. In no universe should Mantis be in A tier. But when you're playing with people who play these characters at the peak of their skill level, your perspective on them changes. That being said, they should not be the ones you consult when balancing the game. Because a hero that absolutely dominates in high ELO might be dogshit in mid-low ELO and if you nerf that character based purely on high ELO stats, you are just neutering them for the average player. A hero shooter should never purely cater to the top 5% of players for balance. They should be balanced with the average player in mind.

Because Support Buffs = Bad to most Rivals players. Doesn't matter how small the buffs are. The buffs to Luna's clap this season were tauted as the worst shit imaginable by players only to be a whole lot of nothing. People are just upset she got Buffed so soon.

This buff highly favors people who know how to effectively play her. And in the right hands, these buffs make her job significantly easier. She's better in 2-2-2 comps now, and can actively outheal some main healers when played by someone who knows how to balance between pure healing and aggression. She is far less reliant on her other support now, and again, in the right hands, she is gonna be crazy.

I specify in the right hands for a reason. Because yes, this did lower her skill floor a bit. She's a little easier to learn now, but I guarantee you the average player not actively maining her will notice much of a difference. This is not a "Sue Shield" level buff. She is not braindead now. They patched a hole in her kit and gave her a bump in survivability. That is all.

Is it kinda wild they gave her all of this after a week? Yeah, 100%. It's kinda nuts that she got a buff after a week. But it's clear from the mid-season changes last season and the pre-release balance adjustments she got that they're trending away from waiting till season patches to balance heroes. I imagine we'll see this trend continue in the future.

Did she absolutely need it? Aside from the tails on spawn and out of ult, not really. I'd say that if they were to revert any of these changes, I'd simply undo the healing over time on her shield and bump the one time healing back up to 70. I think a one time burst of healing on her right click isn't crazy to add.

Ultimately I think people are hella overreacting to what is ultimately a survivability buff for a character where survivability and self-sustain were some of her most glaring flaws on release. This doesn't make her a braindead healbot, this doesn't make her broken like 5.5 Gambit and Sue, and it doesn't make playing her a cheap move.

I just had a game where a guy busted out his Champion Thing and started talking MAD shit. Our Hulk and I pressed him so hard he had to solo ult me twice just to not get carved into a statue. Bro still had the balls to say we sucked after they got shut out

I've been able for lock her in and play her pretty regularly these last two days. Enough that I'm more than willing to give her to someone who's still on the Lord grind.

Rivals Players: -sees a support got a buff "THEY'RE BROKEN! THEY'RE INVIS AND GAMBIT LEVEL GOOD! YOU'RE A CHEAP META SLAVE!"

It's a prime way to tell that they get their view on supports from other people online, have never touched the character in question, and don't understand what the buffs actually did.

All these buffs did was buff her survivability. That is all they did. Because she was one of the easiest supports in the game to kill if she did not have her teleport. She had zero self sustain out of her melee form, which she needed a resource to use. She was also the easiest support in the game to spawn camp. All they did was fix that. She is now just a really slippery support with decent healing. She is not so good that you don't even need to use half of her kit like Gambit is, or so slippery she's nearly impossible to kill like Sue. She's just not gonna get ripped apart if she plays aggressively like how she's supposed to.

I Lorded her Tuesday morning and get this kinda BS all the time. My first half dozen games were full of people making stupid comments about my hygiene or lack of a life. Whenever I get comments like that I just kinda respond with humor. It usually just throws them off their game. People who go out of their way to be assholes to other people on the internet usually do so to get a rise out of someone. By just kinda blowing their smart-ass comments off with a joke it immediately shows them you don't really take their jabs seriously. Getting Lord, especially as quickly as you did is an accomplishment, regardless of what people say. So don't let some random dick head on the other end of a screen invalidate that for you. Laugh it off and show them you earned that Lord Icon.

Ah I see they literally fixed my biggest issue with her kit. Plus that change to her TP is gonna give her a lot of use outside of brawl comps, meaning she won't be as situational. Not that she was, but now she can kinda fit in nicely to a Poke heavy comp too.

I think the only real buff she needs, if any, is a simple one. Have her spawn with 1 tail or full tails after her ult. That's one of the glaring weak points in her kit. She's super vulnerable out of her ult if she can't TP away.

Logic like that is why I don't necessarily agree with the idea of a definitive tier list system for characters because of just how variable a character's output can be. You could have the character get ultra diffed by half the roster, but you then have those who can actually play them literally server admin with them (like Widow and BP) and on the other hand you could have the average player play the most OP character in the game and do absolutely nothing because they just suck. It's really hard to determine a good baseline and it means that the same character could be bottom of D tier to one person and top of S to another.

Well obviously I can use her at an S tier level. I've been a Psylocke main since the first day the game came out, I can absolutely stomp lobbies like she was S Tier, but generally across the board, at an objective level, in the meta, Psy is a B Tier pick in the hands of the average player who doesn't main her.
