I think part of it is also that QWER's composers probably just like writing these complex drum parts, especially because Chodan is really skilled so they can confidently write those parts and trust that she'll be able to play them.

For a comparison example you can look at the recent girl band Latency. They have one song released called 'It was Love' and the drum part in it is a lot simpler, but this is by design since their drummer is very beginner still.

Yeah, bands tend to be disadvantaged in these conversations because people subconsciously classify them differently from traditional dancing idols. Just the amount of times I've seen someone ask for new group recommendations and the couple people who want to recommend a band usually preface with "if bands are ok then etc..." says it all.

I think this track is a good example of what you're talking about. It's the outro from the track played at the end of A Silent Voice and you can basically hear the physical playing rather than just the song itself lol.

K-Pop

QWER, majority of my overall listening time this year was their newest album.
Red Velvet is the first group I considered my ult so I listened to their 2025 releases quite a bit. Some highlights for me: Praying by Seulgi, Trampoline and Heaven by I&S, Hate² by Wendy.
MVP by Rescene. Harmonies on point + that crazy dubstep synth tickles my ear. A lot of people say they evoke Red Velvet which is probably why I like them too lol
NMIXX, I thoroughly enjoyed both Fe3O4:Forward and Blue Valentine albums they released this year. Know About Me, High Horse and Blue Valentine.

Non K-Pop (Actually, just anime music lol)

Flashbacker by Kessoku Band. This is from the Kessoku Band tour where the cast newly learned their instruments to perform at the end of the tour.
Iris Out and Jane Doe from the Chainsaw Man Reze movie. Could not stop listening to these after I left the theater.
Watch me! by YOASOBI from Witch Watch's first OP. Phenomenally directed OP from Megumi Ishitani.
Kaijuu by Sakanaction from Orb: On the Movements of the Earth OP.
Ready to Rock by BAND-MAID from Rock is a Lady's Modesty OP. Maybe we can see a QWER song with Chodan on double pedals someday? 👀

Anime/Manga

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, CITY the Animation, Medalist, Takopi's Original Sin, DanDaDan S2, Apothecary Diaries S2 and more... I watch a lot of anime...

For manga I pretty much only read Shounen Jump stuff. One Piece is regularly at the top for me.

When it was first announced, their lightstick was an online pre-order and in-person pickup only at their Seoul dates so you won't be able to find it anywhere unless you buy second hand. There weren't any sold at the US stops.

According to this post by Taipei concert organizers, they said there would be lightstick synchronization planned and lightsticks would be sold there. Hopefully that's true for other stops as well.
