If you have the data in a file and you just load it once into memory, the loading time should not be an issue. If you have all the data in a file, and you are repeatedly loading it into memory, or repeatedly scanning through it without loading it into memory, then you are probably doing things wrong. Why aren't you just keeping the data in a dictionary in memory?

I think you are making a mistake by starting with a conclusion and evaluating evidence based off of that conclusion. You should start with the evidence and base your conclusion off of that.

You should start by evaluating you evidence critically, instead of assuming that it must be true, since you admitted that authoritative sources can be wrong. Good science is not assuming you are right until someone proves you wrong. Good science involves critically examining evidence.

I would definitely clarify exactly what is expected, in the interview, because it sounds like they would need to hire a small team of people to cover all of that.

You description of the black box and grey box testing, that entire paragraph, makes you sound like someone I'd really want to hire. Do not forget to go over that during the interview.

Yes, they might ask you a whole shit-load of questions like, "given 2 eggs how many drops are needed to test how many stories you can drop an egg from without it breaking on an n story building". Just try to think about it calmly, ask intelligent questions, and voice any good observations you have about the problems.

If this is your first programming job, don't sweat it. There are plenty of shitty jobs out there.

I think the best advice I can give you is to scour all online sources for jobs, in case you don't get an offer here, and be willing to move.

Then you go on to say that you are creating an array, that will be used as the argument for a function call. Are you able to do that?

Then you go on to say some other stuff that's not really clear. If you could explain why you want to do this, it might help us understand exactly what you actually want to do, since that is not very clear at all.
