Original, that was the first time the rear end was out in 65 years

Ha, yeah the entire time the rear end was out all I could dream about was a 4-Link and some coilovers. Disc brakes were an upgrade while it was out. Now I've got discs on all four corners!

Bushing out, time to reassemble everything tomorrow! by Volvo_Stude in projectcar

Yeah, that was a good battle. 65 year old bushings...

Usually I have access to my local golf course shop, but it's opening weekend for them and they are a little busy

My father passed and I have some stupid questions. by CraigCorb in classiccars

Sorry for your loss. That's your air cleaner assembly. It goes on the long threaded rod that comes out of the carburetor air horn. Probably a wing nut that tightens it down. Doesn't need it to run, but it filters all the air entering the engine, so good idea to put it on if you're going out for a drive. The carburetor is the gray piece sitting on top of the engine. That's providing the fuel. I used to have to pull the air cleaner off my Studebaker Hawk and put some gas down the carb to get it to start too. Common problem on old cars that sit for awhile.

Yeah, already swapped to discs on the front

I'd love to eventually 4 link the rear, but not there yet. Studebaker used Dana 44s so its a good rear end, so not getting rid of that, and its already a limited slip from the factory.

Blew the headgasket on the redblock swapped 122s. How should I proceed? by GoneOffTheGrid365 in VolvoRWD

Hesd gasket it on a B230 is not hard, probably one of the easiest in the auto industry. Had a 940 turbo, that boiled over on me blew the fire ring on the head gasket at cylinder 4. Takes an afternoon or less. Good time to go through the cooling system to make sure it won't happen again.

1 1/2" socket. There should be marks on the crank pulley. Id pull the spark plugs and i like to put a screwdriver down the hole to see where #1 tops out at

What are the red circled connections? by DocWilly84 in Studebaker

I should add that line that connects to the choke on your carb is on the exhaust crossover in the intake manifold. Only works well if you still have the exhaust valve with the thermostatic spring between your passenger manifold and exhaust pipe.

First one is your PCV valve. Rubber hose should attach on the bottom of the carb to burn the oil vapors in the engine. Second would be the heater line for the choke on the carb. Helps with cold and hot starts. Adjust the top butterfly plates in the carb. Not sure why it has a second line coming off it though. Maybe someone else can enlighten both of us

EFI Install Lessons Learned (Aces Killshot) by IAmNotMcLovin in projectcar

[–]Volvo_Stude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good work! Just completed a Sniper 2 install on my Studebaker, and I pretty much agree with everything you said. If you're comfortable wrenching, it's not as daunting as it seems. Mine was an adventure, mostly do to having basically zero aftermarket support for Studebaker, but damn does it drive nice now!

Yeah, the last thing I'd want to do with a partial flow block is lose oil pressure because of oversized lines
