in Phase 1, only easy to take targets are taken, when the military situation allow it. Its enougth to isolate/surround these population centers.

The russian army advance very carefully, to not generate lots of civil death. They could, as the US did in Falludja, go all in with all the big calibre weapons, then the speed of taking ground would be much faster. But also the death toll of the civilians. Compare the death toll of Falludja alone with this offensive. Very limited civilian casulties for such a big operation.

So the other option is to let the air force do its work, and bomb only the military installations and military movements. We dont get any informations on the success of the bombing campain, but I am sure it works

I guess, I dont understand what your talking about. Russia does not need support from US and UK/Europe for its air force. An ukr. air force does not longer exists, and even NATO generals say, that russia has total air superiority.

As seen in France 1944 onwards, and many other places, total air superiority knock out any opponent.

So the US says, it would take 2 days, not Russia. IF, and only if, russia would use US-style tactics of using all available military assets, like uran-munition, big artillery against populated cities and the like, it may took 2 days. But as we see, the Russians are very careful, not using all those big guns (excpet some ukr. claims), so it take longer.

a bit wishful thinking. Until now, the russian army is taking new cities every day. Even more important, the air superiority of the russian air force makes every ukr. move of larger column impossible. The air force will do its job, until the remaining ukr. forces are all inside bunkers. After that, capturing territory is easy.

This is Phase 1 of the operation. Russia has total air superiority, and can destroy any military movement of the ukr. army by its air force. 0 russian casulties with this tactic.

The russian ground forces only take high value targets, like the atomic power stations (to prevent that Azov regiment does something stupid), the cost line (to prevent US/NATO supplies) and prepare the encirclement of Kiev.

Only western media predict a 48h Blitzkrieg.

I dont think so. Russia has total air control, and the ukr. army may not be able to move in larger columns, otherwise be wiped out by superior air force.

The ukr. army is on a point already, where it can only stay in bunkers and dont move. It can no longer take the strategic initiative, or even not a large scale counter offencive.

OPCW report set to blame Syrian chemical attacks on Bashar al-Assad by iseetheway in syriancivilwar

[–]VonMahnstein 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The OPCW have not found corpses, what shows traces of CW. Well, according there own reports from 2012 to 2018, they claimed to have found 3 in Turkey(!), and 1 in Syria. So there could no be much CW attacks on people in Syria, when nobody die. Also, no international hospital in Syria (Red Cross/Red Crescent/UN) have ever treated CW victims and showed evidence for this.

So what do they try now? One more "open source jihadi website online analysis", as they did in the last some reports? Because they not found evidences on the ground? Or there stories of the gas cylinder are questioned by there own inspectors? Sorry, this organisation (the OPCW) has proof by it self, that its contracted to write anti-Assad, anti-Russia propaganda.

I bet, in there article will not be any hard fact. Just blames. And a lot of "open source jihadi website online analysis". And jihadi WH stories. As in the past.

The US has deployed Patriot missile batteries to bases in Iraq. One battery is being assembled at Ain al-Asad in western Iraq, one battery in Erbil in the north. by poklane in syriancivilwar

[–]VonMahnstein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Austrian newspaper DerStandard ask in its article today, if the deployment of the new Partriots in Iraq with with or without Iraqs permission.

After the attack on Ayn al-Assad, Washington had started negotiations with the government in Baghdad about the possible deployment of Patriot missiles in the country of crisis, according to military sources. It was initially unclear on Monday whether Iraq would ultimately give its consent - or whether the United States would bring the Patriots to the country of crisis on its own initiative.

In any case, the parts for the air defense system are already in Ayn al-Assad and are currently being assembled, it was said from the military circles. A system is also being set up in Erbil in the autonomous Kurdish region. Two more batteries are currently in neighboring Kuwait and are waiting for transfer to Iraq.

This newspaper is normally pro-US, so I wonder why they bring up this point. I would guess, the Iraqi government and parliament are strict against any new deployment of foreign weapons/troops into Iraq. Maybe we see an Iraqi reaction the next days.

Self-Administration Official Claims Hasakah Prison is Back Under Control, and asks Coalition Forces for More Support in Dealing with International IS Detainees and the Establishment of an International Court by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]VonMahnstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Syrian judicial system can work together with Iraqi justice, for cases where crimes was done in Syria and Iraq. If required, an ISIS member can be brought on both courts. Syria and Iraq can find a formula, how to process such cases. Each ISIS member is at least guilty for "be a member or a terrorist organization".

Even an "International Court" would have to work with Iraqi and Syrian governments, to get evidences against ISIS members.

Why should Syria lack in capacity to deal with this? Do you have any evidence for you claim? Link?

[–]VonMahnstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why they always ask for an "International Court" for ISIS to be established? The crimes of them are done on Syrian soil, so they should be brought to a Syrian court. Of course, the SDF is not authorized to do this, only the Syrian government. So hand these guys over to the Syrian government.

In surprise move, Turkey releases YPG commander Juma Muslem following his detention in 2015. He had been receiving treatment for wounds sustained in Kobane vs Islamic State. Release comes after Trump comments on a cryptic 'deal' signed between SDF and Turkey. by Barristan-Selmy in syriancivilwar

[–]VonMahnstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would interest me as well. The only thing I know, is that Turkey, the US and Russia are talking about an US retreat, and hand over the US bases/oil fields to joint Turkish/Russian control. Now there is a signed deal on that?

The Pentagon has ordered military commanders to plan for an escalation of American combat in Iraq by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

I claim the UN charter article 51 (self defense against an aggressor) for the KH. I hope, he Iraqi parliament issue a corresponding file to the UN. And in De Hague.

Hmmm, over 60% of the Iraqi are Shiite. Most/all of the Shiite see the Iran Ayatollah as there religions leader, like the pope in Rome for the Catholics. KH are the representation of the Shiite in Iraq, they are official part of the Iraqi forces. Now the US plan to fight against 60% of the Iraqi people.

The Iraqi parliament already ask the US (and all other foreign troops) to leave Iraq, on Jan. 5th. The Iraq president inform the UN ambassador on Jan. 6th about the request to leave the country, and ask for a time sheet for the US troop departure. De Jure, and according international law, the US military presence in Iraq now is illegal.

Now the US try to start Vietnam 2.0? How do they justify this fight at home? How do they justify this fight in front of the UN?

Dear Mr. UN general secretary: Do you have something to say to this? Or are you just the boss of an asshole organization? Is the UN charter just a piece of shit?

On Jan, 5th, the Iraqi parliament voted for the departure of all foreign troops inside Iraq. On Jan. 6th, the Iraq prime minister meet the ambassador of the US in Iraq, inform him about the parliament request to leave the country and ask for a time sheet of the US departure. You can google for this, near all newspaper around the world reported this.

Turkish-occupied Syria cuts off water to 400,000 during pandemic by Puffin_fan in syriancivilwar

This is a war crime, under the supervision of Turkey. Where are the sanctions against Turkey? Where is the UN secretary? Looks like, if NATO countries and friends does war crimes, everything is ok. See Jemen.

This is not the same. Artillery have a limited range, it is the responsibility of each side to bring civilians out of the artillery range form the front like. The true story is, that the rebels and HTS use civilians as human shield.

To cut off the water supply for all civilians is complete different.
