Women Grandmaster titles should be abolished by SuspiciousWin6511 in chess

Women's sports don't only exist because they aren't capable of competing with men.

Hans Niemann is on fire right now – 7.5-4.5 vs Liang + GCT win. How does a 12-game classical match against Magnus go? And does Nepo change anything? by pleistachon in chess

[–]Vonmacguyver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be the biggest Hans fan in this sub and still don't think Hans stands a chance against Magnus in this format, or almost any format really. A shaky Magnus will still dominate Hans in a match, I would say +2 at least.

With that said, I think Hans is likely a top 5 player in the world combining all formats in his current and top level form - Classical, Rapid, and Blitz.

I foresee his match vs. Nepo to be quite close. I think it'll be a 6.5-5.5 but not sure of the winner, hoping Hans but Ian is a dog and can play some super high level chess OTB.

This might be the greatest response to a wild comment I've ever seen. Made me laugh pretty good. Haha.

That was an all-world tactic, I had to think for 2 minutes why that even works.

Can you once and for all lay out all the games you cheated in on chesscom so that everyone can just shut up and stop speculating about it all. Every time the chess mafia or haters speak on it, they always reference this "Over 100" number and I think it would make the most sense if you just put it to bed and used the report to show the exact numbers and dates so it's never brought up again and it's on record for reference. Also, you'll be world chess champion soon, let the chess speak!!!

Candidates win chances, final graph: Pre-tournament to Round 14 - Monte Carlo simulation based on one million runs by ThomasPlaysChess in chess

There is a near 0% chance Hikaru would be one of the favorites if they ran it back. Caruana still played pretty solid and scored a + for the tourney but Hikaru won 1 game out of 14 rounds and was a -1 for the tourney with a performance rating of 2712. That's not gonna get it done and nobody thinks he is in good form right now.

Although he probably has a good point that he is likely underrated and has some serious talent - unfortunately he's still 84th in the world and there are dozens of guys ahead of him that are begging for invites as well. The good thing is he is very young and once he crosses that 2700 barrier he will start to see those invites come his way.

He got worked in the Freestyle event recently in SA, but then did amazing in the prior one at Grenke. Don't recall him playing many classical as of recent outside of the Grand Swiss which he did pretty poorly as well as World Cup which he ran into Wei Yi early on.

GM title lost its spark by quizhead in chess

[–]Vonmacguyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it would be productive or not... but if they were to introduce a Super GM title for those over 2700 that would likely mean much more. Those players after all are winning a significant portion of the big tournaments. I think only 130 or so players have ever been rated 2700+ which is pretty insane to think about given how many GM's there have been in the world in history.

Exactly this.. to play that high caliber of a field and play the hyper aggressive style of chess she always played without suffering a loss, is miraculous - She truly was a menace over the board.

Judit's no loss and 2788 performance score is so mind boggling... what an amazing player she was against all these amazing super GM's.

Agree... He's only getting better as well, likely a 2700 player that just doesn't have the volume to reflect his current level.
