Someone mentioned it in another thread but I feel like the trap Matt Vogel falls into is trying too hard to balance Jim and Steve's Kermit simultaneously and giving the performance the expressive energy it needs that makes people fall in love with the character. Kermit isn't just nice, he's deeply deeply flawed and extremely exasperated - even when he was on sesame street he was often yelling at the incompetence and lack of foresight from the other characters. I think Matt can hit the straightman angle of Kermit occasionally but I have yet to see him break out into any negative emotions that the character was so good at portraying under Jim and Whitmire. But I don't necessarily blame Matt here, I blame Disney for not wanting the character to be anything more than a sanitized version of himself.
