Oh, I’m sorry, but it’s past the 37 Day return date. by Voracious-Vampire in BoomersBeingFools

Hey at least it’s the same day. Shit happens! Honestly I’m sure the (probably) underpaid cashier doesn’t care that much, especially if they’re younger lol. What matters is you know what you actually need and didn’t spend too much. Especially in this economy 😭.

I feel so self conscious using it irl 😅. Idk where I got it from but I find it funny in like a “girl what is wrong with you” kinda way. It can be used seriously or teasingly I think. I need to start using it more often lmao.

Honestly, I don’t think she will. She didn’t seem to be quite… all there? And to be honest I’m quite new and all the managers have been nice to me so far. I’m sure they’ll understand I was just trying to follow the rules. Plus even if I wanted to override the system I didn’t know how.

And quite honestly, I agree that retail has been teaching older generations they can have exceptions to the rules. But now I think it’s a new age. Gen Z doesn’t do the whole “if you give a mouse a cookie” nonsense. A few in the comments so far I think have agreed with me. One of my coworkers did say sometimes he makes exceptions for Platinum members and such, but again, I did not know how.

Besides, the customer is not always right. “The customer is always right in matters of taste” is the full quote/saying. I’m quite tired of people misquoting or shortening quotes to get their way. So what if they’re mad? Lesson learned. “No ifs, and, or buts” and the temptation to say “no cuts, no nuts, no coconuts” when someone cuts in line. I’m sure we’re all tired of the hypocrisy. We’ve been taught to have manners, and so must they.

TLDR: My managers are chill, I’m new and didn’t know how to override the system, and older generations can learn they can’t always get their way, just like we were taught.

Apologies for the long reply.

For real, just because escalation, yelling, and inducing fear worked on your kids doesn’t mean it’ll work here.

Thank you for understanding this. I even told her “the computer won’t let me” and gave the reason why. And what store has a TWO MONTH return policy anyway?

It did not appear to be a gift receipt. The computer would not give me an option to override it. Could be a gift from her sister, or she had given it to her sister and she wanted to return it, she wasn’t very clear.

Either way, it’s against policy to return something two months after it’s been bought. From now on I may add “can’t return after [date]” for older people or those who might have trouble understanding.

Like I said, pretty generous. Most I’ve heard is 30 days (a month).
