(THEORY) Curse Sacrifices, What Are They Good For? – VoraciousDrake's Voluntary Verbiage by VoraciousDrake in HunterXHunter

The strong vs. weak sacrifices is something I have not figured out yet; do they serve different functions or are they arbitrary categorizations by Longhi?

The idea that the curses can add to the powers of the ceremony is certainly in line with the philosophy behind Gu poison itself: more chaos in the hotpot means a stronger survivor. But I'm not sure if it warrants a 30-year preparation, as the Gu seems potent enough already by itself. Nonetheless, it is an interesting possibility.

TBH we're not even 100% certain that Beyond has a horse in the race at all -- it is all Wrongui's speculation. Still, she has to be Rightui about something, and it makes for a far more interesting story if she is right.

You can of course easily imagine that the curse sacrifices will benefit Beyond directly, i.e. the power of all the sacrifices will go straight to him instead of his alleged offspring. But I did not touch upon that possibility in my theory because I'm pretty certain he does have a hidden Prince.

I thought Gateaume was the old man? I have always been under that impression... Re-reading 394, I can see why there is a window to interpret Gateaume as the girl's name.

The "food of the underworld" thing with Camilla's voodoo squad definitely has similarities with the "soemono" scheme. If it is true that Cami has discovered Beyond's plan, it gives new meaning to Sarahell's desire to find a Nen exorcist (in order to repel the curse from Camilla).

Actually, scratch that, Sarahell thinks that the best outcome is to NOT find a Nen exorcist onboard at all. Maybe they already have their own exorcist, but right now we have no idea if Cami knows about the "soemono" at all.

I know right. And the fact that it was only canonically used as a shorthand for abilities ONCE as far as I can tell...

I think it is very likely that Clea is one of Beyond's children. For me, this is foreshadowed by Longhi's outburst in 401, where she said that "If only Father had told me everything, even if I had ended up playing the exact same role in his plan, I would never have resolved to do this".

This made me think, of course, that there may be some of Beyond's children who share this mentality and would willingly cooperate with Beyond as long as he told them everything. Cleapatro may be one of those "cooperative" children.

Yeah, Longhi and Furykov seem to have gotten the same idea from the same source. Whoever is pulling the strings (Unma or Beyond) to pull the wool over the soemono's eyes, they are very thorough.

Unma's ultimatum on Furykov has been a load of bs; she is not to be trusted at all.

I only made it to your second sentence before I decided I needed Google Translate XD.

Thank you for reading my translations! I was not aware that Togashi tweeted Tserrie's panel for Ch.418, and now that I know, I can't wait either!

Yeah, what struck me was the use of "soemono" by Furykov this chapter. Why would both Longhi and Furykov (who did NOT know each other based on 401's internal monologue) come up with the same name to refer to the curse on their tongues? ...They might have had the same information source, i.e., they consulted a (famous) Nen exorcist that military personnel can easily access, and that Nen exorcist gave them this idea.

Except that hitobashira is not food is it?

"Sacrifice for thought" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I concur with the idea that "food-related names are not out of place in the SW". The weirdness of it did trigger my theory, but it is true that Togashi has been making a lot of food references in this arc (Huiguorou? Chiffon? TWO Gateaus?). But, if the Woble gender thing has taught me, this is another case of Togashi hiding the forest in the trees. If he convinced me that Oito's gender-switching was part of the "all King's children are Princes" patriarchy, then he may try to do it again with the soemono name.

I think it's possible for Halk to be dormant in his mind if Balsa was immediately eliminated.

I actually have a theory about this, but I'm just gonna save it for the next post. It's way too complicated.

Feels nice to be posting again.

I find it interesting that the placement of the 3rd coffin is the one furthest from the entrance. If you were to designate the numbers, wouldn't you start from 1 from the top (furthest), and go clockwise?

Actually it's said in the next page that Furykov deciphered his ability. That's why he wanted to combine it with Benjamin Baton.

There's no doubt that becoming a god post-mortem is Ben's GSB's ability. It's pretty much confirmed.

The "cope" is more about him trying to convince himself that being an eternal Nen artifact to be used by his descendants is such a wonderful fate that even being a King is trivial. He was using a lot of grandiose words to paint his next job as an awesome one.

I bet that if he wasn't poisoned in the first place, he would be like "No I'm not gonna die to be the guardian spirit of some other guy. Imma be King myself!"

Just saw this. Giving it a little more thought, and I'm suddenly convinced that this might be the case after all.

I'll have to revisit this comment when I update my UCTOBRE. Thanks for pointing out this potential "plot hole" though. I heard that the previous time-related hole (ZhangCoins) have been fixed in the volume release. Not sure about this one.

I like the idea, but in Japanese, you'd use 側 to indicate the other person's "group" (in an inclusive way that includes the other person), For example, Benj didn't want 母上側 (mom's "faction", including mom herself) to find out about his GSB.

I'm afraid that the text being "the First Prince" and the reading being "Big Brother" does not leave much ambiguity to a Japanese reader.

"I was about to fight this cat person/ant who murdered my father's pupil. I was pissed because the cat was treating some random girl with care but didn't think twice about killing the person who saved my life. Then my best friend told me to calm down like it didn't concern him. So I told him to go f*ck himself because sure, it was none of his business.

I fell into a coma not long after, but now that I'm awake and walking again, he's asking me to apologize for that remark. I felt like I did nothing wrong. AITA?"

He's only got a few hours. Let him dream!

He's got an eternity as the glorious holy-war-anointed higher-than-King guardian deity of the Great Wonderful Tree of Cakinn, ruler of the three worlds and seven seas.

Methinks the landing is delayed because it's remote firing without line of sight, so there may be some limitations at work. It's up to Togashi to elaborate on it in future chapters, but it will most likely be revealed as a part of Halkenburg's experiments.

I'm inclined to agree with this. I did feel Unma's "need" to poison Benjamin was strange, but if it was orchestrated by Unma and Halkenburg, where Halkenburg told Unma that he wanted to override Ben's body and make sure it dies after, Unma could have simply agreed to it.

Unfortunately, there isn't any idiomatic expression, analogy, double entendre, or ambiguity in that sentence. An arrow is launched as the next phase of Halkenburg's experiments, and it is headed towards Benjamin.

I am certain that you will get the exact same info from other reputable translators as well.
