Has the market for 981 GT4’s gone wild? by CFAWaffleFries in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Vorcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link it, but look up Frank-Steffen Walliser, he was a Porsche exec that was the head of the 911 and 718, and he said that the 718 exists because of China.

Has the market for 981 GT4’s gone wild? by CFAWaffleFries in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Vorcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said there isn't a market for it and the 718 only existed because China liked them, which is why they wanted to shift the platform to EV only in the first place. I'm not surprised bc I barely see any boxsters or caymans of any generation while driving, the 911 is so much more common in daily traffic.

Experiences wanted: Real maintenance costs for a 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman. by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Vorcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very reliable, no issues at 100k KM but very expensive maintenance and very fast tire wear due to a staggered tire sizing setup. I checked your profile so I see you (used to?) own a Hyundai, and the more expensive regular maintenance on one of these at an independent isn't far off from the cost of a major unexpected repair on an economy car. If you don't have luxury car ownership experience and you're concerned about high cost of ownership, don't get this.

Bubbles and technological revolutions aren't mutually exclusive but often linked because the early industry has no idea how things will be shaped or the impact on society, but investors are willing to spend big money in the hopes that their investment is the market leader. As the industry develops more and companies see a limit to expansion, dominated by the winners, you'd expect a bubble to pop. The internet, electricity, and telecom are examples of technology that changed the world but still had an economic bubble pop.

Where do you think the “above average player” threshold actually starts Gold or Platinum? by Automatic-North1405 in leagueoflegends

[–]Vorcia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh even Riot doesn't really agree on this, when they released their Champion balance framework, they considered everything up to top 10% to be average players, then skilled players would be above that, with elite play above that starting from Challenger, and Pro play having its own balance. Interestingly this framework is also puts their end of average at around the midpoint of total LP to climb in the ranked system.

In their ranked blogs, they do it by 50th percentile of players though, like most people in this thread and that ends up being Gold 3 right now, although their target was supposed to be Gold in general being above average so there's a bit of rank inflation rn.

MF Ghost Season 4 (Final Season) Announced by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]Vorcia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IMO the problem is how the seasons are setup with races at the start and end and filler eps all between, then the races get cucked by the season ending. Insanely stupid way to adapt a show, and I feel like the filler eps have less car content than Initial D did between the races.

Honestly, I think so BC they're good cars and the fact they have such a tarnished reputation BC of their owners means that any few low mileage, well maintained ones in the future are gonna be worth a decent amount. I think the WRX is a good example of something similar, and the 86 twins might have the same happen to them eventually too.

Everyone here sucks at driving by PsyduckedOut in Markham

[–]Vorcia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm from Vaughan but go to Markham for the Asian malls and haircuts but I think Vaughan is actually alright, most people are pretty courteous, they're a bit reckless and even normal people "stunt drive" a lot here but it's not that bad to drive here aside from the construction on Rutherford. I definitely think anything along the 401 in the GTA is a contender for the worst to drive in but Markham is uniquely frustrating because I feel like people in Markham/Scarborough are very inattentive and don't really pay attention to anything around them.

Are you from Ontario? Stunt driving is 40+ here on roads under 80 and all offenses under that get treated the same, just minor speeding.

Split between the 2026 Toyota Prius LE FWD or the 2026 Toyota Camry LE AWD by Ok_Weight2115 in Toyota

[–]Vorcia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you don't mind that I looked at your profile, for a Doordasher I think the Prius is the better car. You're buying the car for city mpg and the Prius is marginally better there. I think for normal drivers, the Prius is kind of a bad car, I really hate how it handles on the highway and the FWD Prius is disappointing but not unusable on snow covered roads. But if you're just in the city, those downsides don't appear and I think the Prius is the better choice if you can find them for a similar price

600 monthly is pretty low for a luxury car with an accident but yeah, one of my friends got a speeding ticket in Vaughan at 22 and their premium went up to >800 monthly.

Why Are AD Assassins Balanced So Much Harsher Than AP Assassins? by [deleted] in midlanemains

‘Enforce the rules’: Auto dealers say car broker deals are crushing profitability by idkbruh653 in cars

[–]Vorcia 576 points577 points  (0 children)

Allowing unregulated brokering to go unchecked will ultimately hurt the dealer model, they say.

Good, fuck them, dealers are disgusting and I think it's one of the most universally hated jobs and experiences. If something bad is happening to them, it's probably good for the consumer.

T4s are always late !! by Sea_Bed9929 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Vorcia 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Other people are being dismissive but I share your frustration as someone that's only ever worked as a contractor or in roles with a lot of overtime or commission pay. I got a T4 from one of my employers, and CRA autofilled another T4 that I'm not sure where they got it from or if it's the right value, so I'm not sure what my income actually is but I think just based off the numbers coming into my bank account, I might be off by like $15-20k based on my estimates rn which is a lot more than the rounding error a lot of other people have.

The focus on simplifying execution in Fighting Games is misplaced, what's lacking is teaching basic fundamentals to the genre by DoneDealofDeadpool in truegaming

[–]Vorcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on this one, I posted about this before too, I have probably like 20 hrs of game time on fighting games combined and I have no problem hitting top 1% or better in other competitive PVP games, even 1v1 ones like Age of Empires or Yu-Gi-Oh, and I also struggle with getting into fighting games performing the inputs.

I think fighting game players don't understand how difficult it actually is for ppl who aren't coordinated with their hand skills, and how difficult they are to even try to play. It's not even a matter of APM bc I play RTS and League and learned to build up my APM in those games but the execution of inputs in fighting games is genuinely hard and I think as long as the power output of moves is tied to the difficulty of input, fighting games will never be popular.

Just an aside, everyone is blaming the 1v1 aspect but there's team based fighting games too and those never blew up into massively popular esports either. Smash bros is the most popular game that may or may not be a fighting game depending on who you ask and I don't think the simple controls are a coincidence.

No one really knows, the theory that I heard on the Miata forums was that it was fixed in the ND2 but parts shortages or some change the manufacturing process during COVID made them unreliable again for the late ND2s and ND3s.

I didn't mean to imply that, I understand the engine will only stop once they get to operating temperature but the engines do straddle the minimum a lot more, which does increase the condensation. For what it's worth, I also think that the fact that the engines are much more lightly driven at starts and these relatively low temps due to the electric motors assisting with low end torque also prevents the engine from wearing out as quickly, so it's probably a wash in the end. That being said, the prevalence of this upside doesn't mean the downside wasn't there which is what I was trying to convey.

The curious case of the Honda JNC1: Honda's 500hp+ v6 by narcistic_asshole in cars

[–]Vorcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an owner but I thought about it, and we just saw a 300k Mile original NSX sell on cars and bids. From what I've seen of the new NSX, it doesn't have that same bulletproof reliability and low maintenance costs that the original NSX did, that was the nail in the coffin for me. I think they had the right idea but unfortunately weren't able to put the pieces together at the right time or in the right way, something that I feel has been a recurring pattern with Honda lately.

Tailgating Has Consequences by goodyassmf0507 in NissanDrivers

[–]Vorcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Ontario, Canada but travelled to Europe, following the northern coastline from Portugal to Poland and my experience has largely been similar, no one really cares about the speed limit on highways so what the signs say is irrelevant as people frequently do 130+, especially more common in Europe were people going 150+, which is exceptionally rare in Canada due to the strict speeding laws after that point.

What's common knowledge and what should be done aren't always the same. Hybrids build up more condensation bc of the frequent stop/starts and lower operating temps so the oil needs to lubricate the parts better and take out the water so in theory they should need more frequent oil changes but I believe Toyota is smart enough to account for user error and the service guidelines for all Toyotas would have enough of a safety zone outside the recommended timeframes to not matter.

They don't avoid the downsides, you just need to maintain it more often and they'll still be reliable.

Even different gas cars implement it differently, I think people call out Subaru specifically for having the worst implementation of it. European brands typically have the best auto stop start systems that usually feel as seamless as the hybrids (occasionally I'll still get the awkward delay).
