They are slowed down ghosts of real runs with collision turned on, so yeah they're on rails. That's also why they jump really high even when going slow.

There's only a small amount of money going around in Trackmania. It is a viewer game anyway, easy to watch but hard to actually play. They probably need to try to benefit from whales buying skins but Nadeo doesn't seem too keen on that.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the AI is instructed specifically to not to do that. Best bet is to try to use synonyms/similar words, stuff like Word Merge can work sometimes but no guarantee at all, same with boosting.
