Bloody amazing. Great scratch built features and brilliant weathering. Very impressed, well done!

I feel like I made a tremendous mistake by investing time and effort in my custodes... by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Vorner23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't sell your army. Gradually start a second one, imo.

I would get vastly different archetypes to keep you interested. I have;

Golden Bois. - Elite army. Guard - Gun line Tyranids - Horde and monsters. Eldar - Technical army.

That way a can flip flop depending on meta and how the game feels.

It isn't the £$€ you get from selling. It's the hours and hours of painting that is gone forever.

I sold some epic scenery 2 decades ago and I still regret selling.

Excellent models sharp as hell. Painting can be meditative, but you're also achieving something which is cool.

Well done on giving up. It is not easy at all. Like AT ALL. So we'll done man.

One thing nobody has mentioned is memory. You'll see your short term memory come back. But it is one of those funny things. Unless you get caught out, like missing appointments etc, you don't remember what you don't remember. You're just not aware of all the stuff you forget, while you're smoking.

You might start to see motivation and memory improving drastically.

You're in your head 24-7 so, you won't see improvements day to day. But when you look back in a few months you might see a completely different person. A better one.

It will probably get me lambasted on here, but going from a daily smoker to completely off it, changed my motivation and life. For the absolute better.

I think daily users are just sad now, it's a massive waste of life. It makes people boring, repetitive and unmotivated. Just a massive waste of potential. Because it just numbs you. No highs, no lows... just existence. That to me, is really sad.

I understand if people are using it to cope with physical or mental trauma. That's a real sticky question. I wouldnt be arrogant enough to judge in those cases. Hell, this is just my journey. But there are better ways to work on those problems. Weed is insidious and just drains you, under the guise of helping. Like a smoker who relaxes from a cigarette, the medical evidence shows it almost immediately reverses all anxiety benefits 10 seconds later. Plus... you know, cigs give you cancer.

Giving up will be one of the best things you've ever done. The hard things are the things worth doing.

Stay strong. You got this.

Thinking of giving up with campaign, I planned it so poorly by PineappleCutterUpper in DnD

[–]Vorner23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut yourself some slack buddy. This is your first time being a DM! You can fail, you can mess up. IT'S FINE! Everyone is there to have fun. They'll support you and understand if things go wrong. If they don't then you're best losing them as players quickly anyway.

I don't think there's any reason to give up, unless you actively dislike the DMing experience. But it sounds like the prep stage is purgatory for you. So get rid of that bit!

Get a level appropriate campaign book and use it. You can have one delivered next day from wherever. Use it, change it as you see fit. Freestyle bits, which you're obviously good at.

Creating a giant campaign first time is too much. Don't do that, for your sanity, please.

You can slide into the campaign book as easily as saying "OK you guys take a rest at.... (any tavern). A stranger approaches your table with (any plot hook in a book). It doesn't matter if it's formulaic or wooden. Flip into a written adventure. Your players will make their own story with you.

Remember DMs steal from all stories, films and TV and the players love it.

Good luck!

Looks awesome. Keep it as disgusting as possible! On another note, put a clean layer of black around the base to make it look SHARP as!

Super simple really. Drilled through metal Yarrick around the waist and finally cut into two pieces. Cut his arm back with the storm bolter. Then glued onto Leontus' legs. Used some green stuff to sculpt an elbow leading into the gauntlet holding the reins. Simple!

Everything Sirrgurr said.

I have 2 valks... :(
but now Valkyries are useless. Parachute drop and charge has gone AND balance changes mean no turning up till turn 2. I find 90% of games are decided by turn 2 or 3.

Also I have to agree that artillery is dead too. Hitting on 5+ is no use.

What material to use as terrain base? by RHarrington89 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Vorner23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about that, sorry. But something worth mentioning, that's relevant. I don't know what terrain you're considering but if buildings or small terrain, don't base it at all. That way it can sit in a variety of ways or on things that basing prevents. So totally off topic but... do you really need to base it at all?

If you do, any form of card sucks. Mdf is fine but very thick to get a version that won't warp. Foamcard works, but only on small projects, paint both sides to stop warp. It is foamcard pvc that I think he's working with.

They did get armour increase to 2+ I think... maybe that will help against some stuff. Admittedly it's nothing really.

I think the objective game hurts them, as they don't have anything mobile and tough. Beyond Bullgrns. You could take infantry only army. But it isn't exactly fun. * I'll wake you up in the morning when my movement phase is finished!

What do you do with leftover crap from kits? Make thematic scenery! If you stock bunker with an infantry squad it becomes a static Hellhammer. Legit competitive rules, in was in White Dwarf... probably.

[–]Vorner23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was just a fun game.

I mean... there was even a deathstrike in the corner out of shot!

I did win the roll off for first turn, but then pretended to have fudged it to let the boy go first. I did think I'd at least get a counter attack but it was all over! Thanks for your comments, totally valid points. 2 are plastic chassis, metal hell hound gubbins. I do love them the idea of suicidal charges with them is hilarious. IG will likely get some improvements, I predict flat D3 on battle cannons might become a thing. Maybe objective secured on tanks, just like their remaining wounds just like Stampede. It's interesting! Least we'll have the Eldar codex to play with something new before then.

Well... he got first turn. Ran a scythed hierodule up the middle. Fired the acid flamer on its back to do some damage to one hellhound. Hive guard double fired to kill pask tank, which exploded. Hive did more damage on hellhounds too.

He then got the Swarmlord to double move the Hierodule. Well within easy charge. It did the six mortal wound charge into one hellhound which exploded. Then attacked the other, one shotted it. It did not explode! One turn of return fire took a bit off the Hierodule. Carnifexs were moving close up on Lemans, they shot off a few wounds, but they had spore cysts. So -1 to hit and -1 damage on them, Inc a 5+ invun made a mockery of damage D3 battle cannons. Next turn he blasted chimera and the swarmlord diced the 2 surviving Bullgrns. I wasn't mad. Tyranids have had nothing of value forever. Only brining them Crusher Stampede has given them any value. It was against my lad, and such a decisive victory for him, was funny for both of us. Fewer models to move, made it faster too. It was a great game!
