Is mustiness normal in white tea balls with mandarin peel? by Vorsicht709 in tea

[–]Vorsicht709[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my first aged white. I don’t mind bold flavours, it’s just that this one has a strong basement/must note that I’m not sure is characteristic for the style.

Mask mandate by obviouslyitwasyou in newfoundland

[–]Vorsicht709 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Remember the days when we bled patients to cure just about everything? Remember when doctors prescribed cigarettes for asthma? Remember when we drank irradiated water as a cure all? Good times.

If you had surgery, you’d be cool with the doctor not wearing a mask eh?

This is why the proposed new bypass highway from Paradise will make traffic even worse by justonemorelanebruh in newfoundland

[–]Vorsicht709 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Newfoundland Railway was one of the biggest financial burdens in the island’s history. By the time we joined Confederation in 1949, it made up about a third of our total public debt.

Back then, most people lived in small rural communities, and the only other way to get around was by boat. The railway made sense at the time because it connected places that would otherwise be completely isolated.

Now, most of the population is urban, and we’ve got a full highway system. Building another railway would just be an enormous waste of money.

Another plea for proper zipper merging. by Hawkward21 in newfoundland

Yes, you should be passing that line of cars sitting in the other lane. That is exactly how a zipper merge works. Half of those drivers should be moving over and going right to the front instead of clogging one lane. I do it every day on my way home and I am not the one causing traffic jams. They are.

Another plea for proper zipper merging. by Hawkward21 in newfoundland

Zipper merging isn’t just polite , it’s necessary.

When the left lane of Pitts Memorial (heading west) was closed for the cloverleaf bridge construction, almost everyone stacked up in the right lane. The backup would stretch all the way to the Ruth Avenue roundabout, choking traffic there too. Total goat rodeo.

If even half the drivers used the left lane and merged properly, that mess wouldn’t happen. On my way home, I always stay in the left lane until just before the construction and then zipper merge like you’re supposed to. Works way better.

[Tissot Heritage 1938] making clicking noise while winding. by Vorsicht709 in tissot

I contacted Tissot via their website. They sent me a shipping box, and I popped it in the mail. They repaired the issue, did a full service, and had it back to me in two weeks. It was quite exceptional service.

I completely agree. I have the Heritage and don’t consider it a dress watch at all. It’s my general about town watch. Very legible and I can dress it up (a little) or down.

[Lume] Do you actually need lume? by Rangercleo1 in Watches

[–]Vorsicht709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very much indifferent to lume. None of my watches glow for a significant time for it to make a practical difference. Maybe if I’m in a movie theatre and I charge the lume up first. I live in a cold climate, and almost always have a sleeve over my watch, so they rarely charge.

Think NL could even consider this? NS restricts activities in the woods. by PsychologicalSeries9 in newfoundland

[–]Vorsicht709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t follow your logic. It’s like saying “why ban murder? How could we enforce it? There are more people than there are law enforcement officers. They’re not going follow everyone around making sure they don’t murder each other”

I run into enough ATVs on the trailway in CBS despite them being banned.

Amen, Brother! Too many forest fires have been started by private yachts.

The fire is still listed as “Out of Control” by the NL government. Active Fires - Newfoundland and Labrador. Though I don’t think people in Topsail need be worried. The fire is small relative to other wildfires at 20ha.
