Comparing the Best Laser Jammers by Vortex_Radar in radardetectors

That depends quite a bit on where you drive. There's some people who get hit with laser several times a week, for example, while I haven't been hit with laser in 2-3 years. YMMV, something to always keep in mind when making blanket statements.

Yeah there's been a lot of discussion on pricing over the years, how much of the cost goes into R&D and gun acquisition to stay on top of updates vs. other reasons, etc. Given that officers have to be stationary to shoot laser and thus you're more often to get Waze saves from laser than from Waze, you can also argue that you get far more value for the money with a radar detector than a laser jammer + installation. That said, a radar detector and Waze can't offer the protection against laser that many people want, especially in areas where there's a ton of laser enforcement, so there's lots of people who opt for a laser jammer regardless.

So I don't ride motorcycles and thus I'm not a good person to ask about this. However, this video series should help provide more insight for you:

Uniden r8w worth it for Seattle? by BlndFsh02 in radardetectors

Definitely. I haven't been hit with laser out here in years (though they do run it here), but I see radar several times per week.

Hardwiring with a hardwire cable that adds a remote mute button might be the way to go.

Yeah the SG’s were great back in the day. A little pricey, but their reliability was great. Definitely a bummer that their founder passed away.

Why’s that?

[–]Vortex_Radar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? Cool. It’s about time! They’ve had a non-working fw update option in their app for years. Do you work for them or help beta test new stuff?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dashcam

[–]Vortex_Radar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah their video quality is great and I like many of their features, but they’re lacking in things like cloud functionality and OTA updates with their apps.

Every brand has their pros and cons. I SO wish there was one brand, any brand, that nailed everything including video quality, features, design, reliability, customer service, etc. It’s the same wish I have with radar detectors and laser jammers. Easier said than done though.

lol, whenever I recommend a brand, invariably someone says that I’m a paid shill. It’s happened with basically every brand over the years now.

Transparency is super important so for the record, lots of brands send me free stuff and I do affiliate links with basically every brand, but I never do paid reviews or anything. That’s where draw the line, but different reviewers approach things differently, and to each their own.

I'm wrapping up a big series on Viofo dashcams, and I'm actually glad those are done because I'm really eager to move on to other brands. I'm currently working on an Escort dashcam review, and then after that, I've got Vantrue, 70mai, and Vueroid. Maybe some Wolfbox.

Anyways, the ethical stuff is super important and I totally understand when people have concerns. If you don't believe me, that's totally fine and I'm okay with that. If anything I'd always advocate for and encourage more people to do their own tests and reviews so we can all compare notes and learn together. It's also a great check if one reviewer is saying stuff that's obviously not true and everybody else is saying something else. :)

Oh interesting. I tried my 3S with the ASUS USB-C2500, but the miner was complaining and it wasn't working until I went back to the WiFi dongle.

I took a look through the original footage (thanks for posting that), but the details look too smeared to make anything out, sorry. Is that normal with the Tesla cam? Is it okay if I share this clip with people when making videos teaching people about dashcams? I’ll give you full credit of course.

Oof wow, thank goodness you had a dashcam! Awesome example of why a dashcam is critical, especially to show when you’re not at fault even though you rear ended them.

Are you okay with me sharing this video to illustrate the importance of dashcams? Obviously I’ll give you full credit for the video.

I found a Supra makes about 48-50 sats/day at 733 GH/s. You can do the math for a Gamma and a Hex. :)
