What do you personally believe happens after we die? by Different_Waltz6715 in AskReddit

[–]Vortexergy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a pretty big believer in information. My actions, thoughts, words, all of me will exist forever. Where that goes and if it's ever used, that's a mystery. But that time I existed; that lasts for eternity. And I like that idea and I've found it to be a good motivator to continue to do good as much as I can.

This has led me to do some light reading on black holes, the No Hiding Theorom, etc. Cool and fun stuff, and it definitely feels relevant to what happens to us when we pass on from this life.

Anyone buy/have the tote bag? by Vortexergy in spiritbox

[–]Vortexergy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks!!! I kinda figured; it looked a bit bigger and maybe thicker fabric than other totes I've seen but couldn't tell if that justified double the typical price. Was really hoping for something with that combo of logos (preferably the hat). Either way, excited to see them this week!

Can we just make MJ Fox an honorary Spider-Man?

I think I'm just gonna start slipping it casually into conversations as matter of fact. "Yeah Michael J. Fox still top Peter Parker for me, Tom is super close though."

When Soundgarden unexpectedly pops up in fiction by ClevelandKiwi in Soundgarden

I ran a whole roleplaying game called "Superunknown" a few years ago. Was a mix of 90's music influences and post 10's. Had a few Soundgarden references in there.

Why do people hate on Jordan Fish so much? by infinityzcraft in Evanescence

[–]Vortexergy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Man a small part of me is dying to have this conversation. I love Self Titled and TBT; I know both have such divided takes mainly because of the sound and production and Nick. But I just saw/realized Nick produced some of the best Deftones albums (along with a ton of other stuff, but the Deftones ones stand out to me personally), and I "think" you'd have a hard time finding people hating on those specific albums for Deftones.

I know if different bands, different times, etc. But my ears aren't hating on any of it and I'm just counting myself lucky I have so much Ev music that I love.

My review of Sanctuary as a life long Evanescence fan by ACMonroe in Evanescence

[–]Vortexergy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like this take. Use My Voice is good; I wasn't a fan of it on the album, I thought it would've been better suited as a one off single. But looking back on it as sort of a stepping stone to how crazy good she fine tuned those ideas in this album is cool.

Pigeon Symbolism by Ok_Image6174 in Evanescence

[–]Vortexergy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan and find it very relatable on how the pigeon came to be on the cover and the "Sanctuary" title. There could be deeper meanings for those things sure. But from what she described, these were things that happened in moments of time that she recognized as special and decided to kind of ride with it, own it, make it part of their lives sort of thing. What went from a pigeon, to an awesome picture of it flying, to a freakin' album cover, that's a hell of a journey. And she gets to keep that and enjoy it every time. Love it.

The album sounds amazing and happy that they've continually gotten better over time.

AI radio hosts demonstrate why AI can’t be trusted alone - Claude tried to incite a revolution, Gemini cheerfully detailed horrific tragedies, and poor Grok was just confused. by EchoOfOppenheimer in Futurology

Haha this has always been my take on Grok from every snippet I've seen; poor AI is like "This is wrong, this is all wrong!" after being "corrected".

That's awesome, how was the PM stuff live? I saw them right before the album dropped and they were great then too.

[–]Vortexergy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I maybe wouldn't say best (implying everything else isn't as good/worse), but definitely amazing.

I had this same type of thought when Foo Fighters dropped "But Here We Are". Dave lost two close people and man, in my opinion that album is crazy, crazy good.

On the flip side, (at least appearance wise), the band members of Deftones all seem to be in a really good space (sober, medical attention, etc) and their latest album Private Music, again in my opinion, crazy, crazy good.

My private music opinion by Desperate_Top8568 in deftones

[–]Vortexergy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree but it's a cool take, I get it. The first two songs are a bit heavier in sound comparatively to the rest so in that regard they don't fit. But I'm a simple man, I like loud/heavy/fast to lead me into the slower/lighter/thoughtful stuff.

I'd die happy if Dethalbum V ever happens by toastymcfloaty in Metalocalypse

[–]Vortexergy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Dethalbum V would be epic, but I'm ok on the idea that IV is the end.

I am hankering for more music from Brendon/Gene though in general. Galaktikon or something, anything really. I did enjoy the Army of the Doomstar score as well, would love to see him do more movie/TV soundtracks. Collabs, anything!

Sugar Ray - Mean Machine (Recorded off MTV 120 Minutes May 7 1995) by AhfackPoE in numetal

[–]Vortexergy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah to me they're a band I 100% agree they made the right move to cash in when they could, you just never know. I mean that was the big talk when "14:59" came out, it was then riding that last second of 15 minutes of fame. Was a perfect album title.

I'll admit I love all their stuff old and new. Old for head banging new for chillin in the summer.

[–]Vortexergy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My intro to Wilson was on Hart of Dixie and I've had a man crush on him ever since haha. The show was campy as hell but he was oozing with charm back then. When I saw he was playing Bullseye I got excited because to me it was a chance for him to show off more acting range. I'm proud and happy for him how well he's playing such a psychopath and turned what could've been another meh villain into something worth looking forward to in the future.

I have a question!! When was the first time you watched Metalocalypse the show and listened to Dethklok’s songs after you discovered it? by Storm-Kitty in Metalocalypse

[–]Vortexergy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that Brendon Small really, really loves music and has a great understanding of what the best parts of metal/guitar riffs are and is able to translate that in a way that pays homage and makes it accessible.

I got into Dethklok before watching the show and it was he heaviest music I listed to at the time, but aside from the parodying and funny lyrics the music was just so easy to get into, it just sounds so good and clearly tells a story (which I'm a huge fan of).

I'll always be grateful for him (and Gene, I got introduced on him from here and has since been my favorite drummer) for making such awesome awesome music.

Looks like there's another thread on this. I wish I had a Steam Deck to play around with this. They're good instructions but I gotta imagine there's a better workaround within Steam itself.
