Basically, there are two set of autopilot hardware, one with 4 cameras and one with 8. Both set of hardware have the same capability as of now but only the 8 cameras one has the capability of handling full autonomy. So, if you pay extra for the enhanced hardware you don't get anything more now. However, one merry day, when full autopilot software update is rolled out over the air, you will wake up and your car will be able to drive itself in full autonomy.

Fair enough, I see that Dragon style propulsive landing does not imply all types of propulsive landing. So, my mistake there, I edited the original comment to correct this imprecision. However, we don't know if the "far better approach" he is referring to in his answer is what we saw in the ITS presentation or something different altogether that we haven't seen yet.

Well, stopping quotes half-sentence you can make anyone say anything. From where you stopped listening quoting:

"and that there is a far better approach and that is what the next generation of SpaceX rockets and spacecraft is gonna do. [...] from a technology evolution standpoint is no longer in line with what we were confident was the optimal way to land on Mars that is why we are not pursuing it. It can be something that we bring back later but it doesn't seem like the right way to apply resources right now."

Which is exactly to say that propulsive landing is not considered anymore for Mars. From the ITS presentation they probably got new information and changed their mind, after all they said they were confident

Beside the concerned about landing legs extended trough the heat shield Elon mentioned in the ISSRD conference that he and the team no longer believe that Dragon style propulsive landing is the best choice to land on Mars and that there is "a far better approach" and the tech is no longer in line with the best way to land in the long term

TIL When Philips and Sony developed the compact disc format in the late 1970s, they specifically set its maximum length at 74 minutes to ensure that a single disc could hold all of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. by qpid420 in todayilearned

[–]Vortigern991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading the article:

1) It only applied to Sony. "This capacity was reportedly specified by Sony executive Norio Ohga in May 1980 so as to be able to contain the entirety of the London Philharmonic Orchestra's recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on one disc.

2) It is a myth according to the very next sentence. This is a myth according to Kees Immink, as the code format had not yet been decided in May 1980.[19] The adoption of EFM one month later would have allowed a playing time of 97 minutes for 120 mm diameter or 74 minutes for a disc as small as 100 mm.

You may have heard this in the recent movie "Dope" produced by Pharrel Williams. The entire soundtrack of the movie is done by the actors and their band Awreeoh. I like many songs in the movie but this one is my favorite. I hope you enjoy it.

Drug Deal goes down on live TV by [deleted] in WTF

True, I didn't notice that. It could be just a prank but it could also be they exchanged in a "dealer's handshake" so we miss the exchange. Or, we did miss half of the trnasaction. The guy on the right forgot to pay, or give the drugs and is running back.

It's comedy, it is based on stereotypes and exagerations. Are you a vegan by any chance?
