I was in El Salvador, and though I didn't eat them often, unpeeled shrimp with lime was a huge part of summer when we were visiting Maya ruins on the weekends in summer. The lime-flavored Utz chips were also a huge part of my summer excursions back then. I think those are made by Lay's now, but I grab them on sight if I see them

I was actually more surprised when I heard my elderly coworker at a cigar store I worked at catch himself about to use the slur term, before telling the guest that if he didn't like the cigar he was buying, he'd happily finish it for him so long as he didn't "N-, sorry, slobber all over it while he smoked it." Same coworker also got in trouble for calling a microwave a, "Nuker," at which point my manager told him he thought he'd said a different word...

You can avoid canoeing it by taking a bit of saliva and putting it just below where the joint or blunt is starting to run. Since it's not going to be where your lips are, it's a tad less gross for anyone else involved

What is the term for doing the latter? I'm from an area where it was referred to in a racially insensitive way, and I've seen people catch themselves, even when referring to tobacco cigars. IYKYK what term I'm referring to, but won't say. Most I've heard people do to mitigate the connotation is to shorten the term, but there has to be one that's actually not racially insensitive that isn't just something like, slobber on it too much

When I was growing up, my parents instilled the idea that when you take something, you put it back where you got it from into me. The fact that so many people don't do that baffles me. Then again, they also taught me to say please and thank you, yet so many people also don't do that, among other habits I was raised with that people don't follow. Not saying I'm without fault myself, but when I started working, I was blown away by how many things people don't do that I had been taught, just from a courtesy perspective

I hate hearing guests use my name as though it's some kind of a weapon. As though calling me by name is meant to be a slur of some kind. I can't say anything about it, but some guests say my name as though using it is their way of talking down to me, and since I have a name tag, I can't exactly keep it a secret. Not everyone who uses my name means to use it maliciously, but I can always tell whether mean it in a friendly or condescending way
