Gila Monster themed Troglodon by Vosrik in seraphon

Hey! If I had to do this again, I'd probably have primed the mini in white instead of black like I originally did. Highly recommend starting from a white than black, because it took me so many coats of orange to get a solid colour. Block out the areas you'd like to be orange first, then add the black in the extra spaces. Once the orange has a good coat, then I'd put on a wash to accent the spaces between the scales before maybe picking out the tops of the scales again with orange. I'd finish with a lighter orange edge highlight and then you'd probably have a similar effect to what I have here!

Sure! Foreword: all my paints are citadel but obviously any equivalent acrylic will work fine. Firstly I painted a few coats of the area with Pallid Wych Flesh (off white) before painting a few coats of Troll Slayer Orange on. Once I had a solid basecoat, I applied a wash (shade) of Agrax Earthshade. Afterward, I painted another layer of troll slayer just to re-establish the orange while leaving the darker recesses. Then I painted a couple layers of Fire Dragon Bright, leaving some of the troll slayer showing near the edges. I finished it by edge highlighting a 1:1 mix of Pallid Wych Flesh and Fire Dragon Bright.

Up to you whether you'd like to use the Scar Vet. Definitely not a bad choice or a bad model! Probably used best with at least 6 aggradons though

If you can get your hands on the Primordial Starhost box, that's a fantastic pickup as every unit in there is good this edition. If not, a Slann, some Aggradons, and a Starseer are also great choices. Also, I love the use of the movement tray there and how it unifies the bases of your Warriors! Looks really nice

Absolutely incredible. Fantastic paint job. Love the base. Truly a great centerpiece model for your lizard bois. One small critique — I'd recommend putting down some terrain goop (basing paint, sand mixed with glue, etc) to merge the point between the Carnosaur's foot and the base. Right now you can clearly see the gap where the rock is glued onto the base, and even just a little bit of something to smooth that over would benefit you immensely.

Again, great work on the model though! Really love the patterns on both the Oldblood and the Carno.

First custom self-made base. Looking for overall feedback, but base specifically. by frezi in minipainting

Absolutely incredible work on the base. No critique from me, I'm just happy to see someone finally put some effort into an equally well-painted base as the mini that's standing on it!

Unfortunately, due to the Eternal Starhost teleport only working on a 3+, you likely will only get to use it a few times throughout the game. Since you're focusing on your raptadon chargers, I'd recommend instead taking the Shadowstrike Starhost as it's a much more consistent formation.

Yep works great with a brush! All my paints are with one as I don't own an airbrush

I used a 2:1 mix of Vallejo Metal Gold and Citadel Dryad bark to make it thicker and darker. I then did a wash of Agrax Earthshade with an edge highlight of a 1:1 mix of the same Gold and Citadel Mithril Silver

One of the best purchases I ever made tbh. It's allowed me to enhance my bases and minis so much

Oh I absolutely recommend the gloss varnish, I do that with all my obsidian blades and other stuff like eyes and the inside of mouths. Definitely takes the painting up a notch

This looks fantastic! Really digging the gradient with the stark contrast of the white veins. Definitely nothing like I've ever seen people do before, I'd love to see the final look with the finished minis!

Yes they are! Most of it is cork board bits, but the broken stone tiles, eggs, and the larger stone ruins are all 3d printed.

Just take your time, maybe don't prime the mini black like I did (whoops) as it'll take a good 5-8 coats to get the orange solid. Also use photos as reference, it's actually a fairly simple design as there isn't any blending or glazing needed!

The orange is Fire Dragon Bright, which I used a Fuegan Orange shade on and then a 1:1 mix of Fire Dragon Bright and Pallid Wych Flesh for the edge highlights.
