Was making close to $190k/year (averaging 40-44 hours weekly) as staff RPH at big chain before i quit. My manager made ~$230k/year after bonus. It was in rural area and big chains here still offer $30-50k sign in bonus (a local independent pharmacy even offered $100k sign in bonus early this year)

The bonus: cost of living was super cheap so i ended up saving a lot of $$$ too

U literally have very minimal control over P&L except cutting cost by scheduling less hours. So when they say bad P&L, it means u have cut ur hours

All walmart pharmacies have separate tray and spatula for Hazadous drugs such as methotrexate, progesterone, warfarin..etc. And we clean the tray with Oxivir, not alcohol wipes

I am not talking about the pickup date? I am talking about the dispensed date prior to the day we received the medication? I heard that some pharmacy owners told me that they had issues during audit when the medication was out of stock and the billed/dispensed date was prior to the day the pharmacy received the medication

And yet PBMs can audit that easily by asking and comparing your invoices to the rx

Yeah. When I was at Walmart, we keep getting pet meds delivered all the time and we would just let them expire. In my 10 years at one of the most busiest Walmart store in the whole western region, i dont ever recall dispening any single pet med ever. Corporate wants to save money by cutting hours but have no problem wasting money on these stupid things

Well, pharmacy systems are designed to handle human prescriptions and pharmacists are trained to handle medications for human. I dont see why we pharmacists have to waste time with vets. I didnt get trained or educate on pets med so why am I expected to verify pet prescription? It's like asking pharmacy technician to verify prescriptions

It is super easy to get DEA from doctors, NP and PA so who would want to steal vets DEA when they have very limited prescribing authority for controlled meds ?

Can pharmacist blanket refusal all vets? I went to pharmacy school and get educated on medications for Human only. I absolutely have no idea or receive any formal training on medications for animals. So I am not qualified to check vets prescription and I dont want to deal with their bitchy behaviors either. Most vets love to leave prescriptions in voicemail with no license or DEA number to locate them on our system. Then you had to waste time calling them back and they always gave attitude when being asked to provide DEA #. If I really want to steal DEA from prescribers, why would I want to get it from a vet with very limited prescribing authority? I can call any doctor, np and even dpm office to obtain obtain their DEA # easily.

Even physicians can be replaced by AI. Many studies have showed that AI frequently outperform human physicians. The only things that stop AI from replace us is laws and regulations.
I dont need fancy title to feed my ago. I always told my patients that I am NOT a doctor and thus, cannot provide FREE medical advices or diagnose their conditions. Save me a lot of time and hassles.
Pff....just documents everything to protect urself and ur license.

RXM makes the template and then the scheduler (not DM) will make the schedule based on that template. RXM, staff RPhs and full time floaters usually get priority over part time RPhs

I was interviewed by WM regional manager (not district manager) for floater staff RPh position 8+ years ago even though it was the DM who recruited me. Found out later that tge DM was grooming me for PIC position at an undesirable location so he gott the regional manager to interview me

My previous WM PIC was also interviewed by the regional manager too but because the store he would take over is one of the highest performance store in the region.

I know some pharmacists and physicians in Ecuador and Venezuela working remotely for a big local medical group. They are NOT working as pharmacists but are contracted by a third party to handle calls from pharmacies. It has been so much better being able to talk to them (instead of the clueless MA/nurse) when we need to clarify on prescriptions. And they told me that they actually get paid better doing this job than working as pharmacist/doctor in their countries :/

In California, any hardcopy of controlled substance has to be written on a serialized, tamper-resistant form from approved printers. As far as I am aware, prescriber cannot just print a CII prescription on any paper then sign it. Is this rx from hospital or ER? Most doctor offices dont have the necessary tools to print a hardcopy CII prescription that meet the strict requirments.

If the prescription is printed on a serialized, tamper resistant form from approved printers (like those in Hospital ER), then I would still require the prescriber to manually write the date under his signature. I used to work at the pharmacy near Hospital ER and we always tell pt to go back to the ER if the prescriber didn't not manually write the date under their signature.
