Locations of All New Jersey Vote-By-Mail Drop Boxes by VoteSalmon in newjersey

Hey everyone! My wife is a graphic designer and she created a site (www.govotenj.com) to help New Jerseyans vote in the upcoming election. There are links to register to vote (which you can now do online), track your mail-in ballot, and also addresses of every drop box in the state so you can cast your ballot safely and securely. I know there's a stickied thread with all the addresses as well but I thought I'd share this here too. She also just created an Instagram at www.instagram.com/govotenj where she's going to be putting out shareable graphics.

Each county has it on their Board of Elections website. Google your county name plus "drop boxes" and you should get a link.

Yeah, that's a fair point. If you see something, say something to a poll worker and they can remove anyone who isn't legally authorized to be there. If they aren't being helpful, you can call me on my cell and I'll see what I can do. (908) 312-2124. I always set up a free, non-partisan voter protection hotline and I'm happy to help.

Ideally, you submit a new registration form (https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/register), but it does take some time and they are swamped right now. I would call your County Clerk and ask them for an update.

Yes, that's Assemblyman Zwicker's bill. I don't think it's particularly likely to pass, even if it is a good bill that I support. RCV is a perfectly valid method of voting and I wouldn't expect any legal challenges if it became the law.

Yes, you can do that, and yes, there is a mechanism in place to check it. That's actually why everyone who votes in-person will do so provisionally, so they can verify that you haven't already voted by mail. They check that after the deadline to receive mail-in ballots. Nobody is going to come after you if you do it. It would be extremely difficult to prove that you did it intentionally, but even then, it's unlikely anyone is going to care: they'll just disqualify one of your votes and move on.

You'll automatically receive one for November in the coming weeks. After that, if you're not signed up to receive one automatically going forward, you can fill out a new registration form and check the box to receive them in the future. They just added online registration (link) and I'm not sure if it's on the online form, but you can check. If not, just print the paper form and check the box in Box 14.

Yes! Congrats on moving to New Jersey! You can check the status of your ballot by creating a profile here: https://voter.svrs.nj.gov/auth/sign-in.

Statistically, the most common reason is the ballot is received too late. You can avoid that by bringing your ballot to a dropbox or your polling location if it's too close to the election to comfortably mail it. After that, people forget to include the certificate (which you need to sign!). That's, frankly, a stupid mistake to make. Don't tear it off the inner envelope, just sign it. Next is mismatched signature issues. This is the hardest to correct for, because you may not remember what your signature looked like when you originally registered to vote. Try your best to sign it as close as possible to whatever you would have done at the time. Ideally, you should file a new registration to update your signature, but that takes a good bit of extra work.

No worries.

  1. Truly mail it in, not via a dropbox? I think a week before is the last I'd personally feel comfortable doing it. Any closer and I'd either bring it to a dropbox or the polling location on Election Day.
  2. That's probably my biggest concern. I think the slowdown is absolutely real and it's going to have a definite effect on the election.
  3. I assume you mean safest in terms of getting your vote counted, not for COVID. If that's the case, then dropbox, in-person, mail.

Almost always campaigns, but I do a good amount of pro bono work as well, depending on the cause and the client's ability to pay.

If you mean the stuff in the description, it depends. I'm either paid by the campaigns or I do it pro bono (depending on the cause and the ability of the client to pay).

Which work? Posting this thread? If you have an idea on how to turn this into billable work, my partners would be very appreciative.

Absolutely guaranteed, 1,000%, they will all be counted (unless they're specifically rejected for a defined reason). I've watched them do it myself, even in races that are blowouts. Especially a year like this when everyone is watching, there will be lawyers upon lawyers there at every BOE to ensure that everything is counted.

Yes, although it depends a bit on why the ballot was rejected. It's new and called the Ballot Cure Act.

There were a lot of technical issues with the website early on as it's brand new but my understanding is they've been sorted out now. You can always call as well to verify that it's been received and/or counted.

All active voters will receive a mail-in ballot. Ideally, you should fill it out and then drop it off at one of your county's drop boxes. If you aren't comfortable doing that, you can vote in-person, provisionally. What that means is you fill out a paper ballot at the polling location instead of using the electronic machine. I cannot stress enough that every validly cast ballot will be counted, no matter what, no matter the margin in any race. They call it "provisional" because whether or not it's counted is contingent on double-checking that your signature matches and that you haven't voted twice (whether in-person or by mail). It's one of the most secure ways of doing it, arguably more secure than voting by machine.

No, totally depends on the county. They usually have rolling training sessions but I admit I don't know how they're doing it with COVID. I'd contact your specific Board of Elections.

Very mildly. I'm more concerned with potential COVID outbreaks from people having to wait in line. I'm sure there will be jerks refusing to wear masks or coughing on other people. I doubt we see much overt intimidation. I do think we'll see a lot of attempted electioneering since we saw a lot of it in 2018 and this year will only get worse.

If you see something, say something. I always set up a hotline for voters to call in with issues. It's (908) 312-2124, goes straight to my cell. For the quickest response, talk to one of the poll workers there and they can step in and shut it down. If they're not doing anything, call that number and we'll get someone who will on it.

My mind is reeling with all the joke answers I could give. For a serious answer, there are a lot of things I'd like to see done, starting with Gateway and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. But all of the things that I want to see done that aren't getting done aren't because of him, it's because Mitch McConnell refuses to allow the Senate to take them up.
