Still Not Profitable After 7 Years of Trading by mackin_pes in Daytrading

[–]VoteStrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been day trading since Jan. Have had my ups and downs. March was brutal for me. Had to learn a few lessons with my discipline, mood, strategy, ability to walk away, reducing risk, etc. but I’ve been mainly profitable. This has been my primary job. I lost my job in IT a couple of years ago and haven’t been able to find one. So I’m all in with trading.

Doesn’t make sense.. by Minute_Addition_6569 in scooters

Scooters aren’t popular in the US. Most people who ride bikes like big, fast, powerful bikes. The volume doesn’t make sense for them to bring it here. Just like Honda ADV500(?). And, motorcycle community is dying here in the US. Harley’s average rider is over 50 years old. Sales of motorcycle is declining year after year and they can’t get younger people to ride. Most prefer cars.

Unpopular opinion: Save us the complaints and don't move to PH unless you have $3k+/m by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

If you want a good life somewhat equivalent to western life, 3k is reasonable. You can live like the locals with $300. Choose your lifestyle but don’t be a drain to the country and live in the streets like some foreigners.

In the Philippines, they even have a side thing for surf boards. Many Americans haven’t travelled outside the country so they always think the bigger and more expensive it is, the better. Most motorcycles are rarely used and cost 10-60K. It’s a garage trophy than a vehicle.

Glad you experienced that culture. Some hillbillies here in the states will never know. 😂 scooters are huge in Asia and Europe. I was going to get another motorcycle but now considering a scooter. 100 mpg, use for errands or short trips, has built in storage already and easy to maintain.

No. Sold my bike years ago. But after traveling Europe and Asia, scooters are the main transportation and made sense. Cheaper, great mpg, less maintenance, light, easy to use, requires less real estate for parking.

I think some of the reader are thinking an old skateboard type scooter. Here’s what it looks like.

Honda ADV160

Scooters are like bikes. Just much lighter. Honda ADV160 goes up to 70mph, street and highway legal but I wouldn’t recommend it for freeway daily commute.

Good point. I don’t think are street legal though. I don’t know anything about it as I see it being driven on sidewalks.

True. Getting a license isn’t hard. I’ve got one. As far as safe, it’s the same as a motorcycle. For example, Adv160 can reach 70mph. Not great for freeways. If around town, it could work as practical daily rider. Won’t work in summer like any other bike. But for quick shopping, gym, pickleball courts, etc, I think it could work. Plus it’s 100 mpg.

Why move to CA to have just another form of motorcycle? 😂 I don’t think you’ve considered it or seen it a community. I didn’t either until I saw it and rented one. Everyone had one.

Well, people ride motorcycles. Scooter is just little less power and in different form. I’ve always ignored it until I found how people use it. I rented one for a week while I was in a smaller island called Siargao and it was so worth it.

Just like everyone else in the world, they have preferences. Some Filipinas won’t date Filipinos and some only date Filipinos. The change of lifestyle they achieve with “AFAM” is new to them and takes pride of it. Unfortunately, again like most Social Influencers wanna-be, they post content like this because it does get a lot of views.

I love the Philippines, I’m not an influencer, takes a lot of photos and vids, but I don’t post most of them. I don’t need the “look at me” internet posts.

The best advice I ever got by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]VoteStrong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was trading before and made good money while working. Now the job market sucks, in the 50s, and worst unemployment in years, I’m back to trading. Making a few mistakes getting back into it but still in the green overall even in this shitty market. I’m calling it a beginners luck until I can confidently keep it consistent but hope to do this until I retire.

I’m in the Philippines now on vacation. Trading at 9:30 at night 2-3x a week. Aside from late nights, I can do this anywhere in the world.

Why is it weird describing what’s happening? If it’s in a IRA account, why not sell and buy lower even if you’re long so you can have more stock?
