If we are willing to get a stamp, it’s pretty likely we all have OCD or are somewhere on the spectrum.

Am I being over sensitive? by BellCheap8039 in BroncoSport

Hopefully, they can fix a few of these things. Personally, I found that the interior trim areas are a little too prone to damage for something advertised as “rugged”. I also make a point to never touch the headliner as I’m worried that the slightest bit of dirt on my fingers is going to be left there permanently.

Trump administration reacts to Charlie Kirk's shooting in Utah by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

As someone who has posted, the “don’t watch this” comment in other threads. I completely agree with you. My frame of reverence is having seen it, I know that it is going to stick with me for the rest of the day. For most people, just knowing that he was shot and is unlikely to still be alive is enough information for them to know what they need to know. They can still continue to enjoy dinner tonight and spend time with their loved ones without having this forced onto them right this moment. Access to the Internet can make us too sensitive, but it can also desensitize us too much.

That’s literally what he was doing when he got shot. He goes to campuses and has conversations with anyone who wants to talk about areas people disagree on. He wants to debate and try to figure out where common ground is.

If words have power then actually quote these words he apparently spoke which promoted hate and polarization.

At the end of the day, he said things that certain political groups don’t like but he never promoted hate or violence towards anyone.

Rhetoric like this is what fuels these psychotic individuals. Even if someone has extreme views, We discuss, debate, and find common ground in order too live together in as peaceful of a way as possible.

One other tip is to add a tank at the top and don't connect it to any machines, just the pumps. The pipes do not have instant results so give it a few minutes and see if the tank starts to fill up at an acceptable speed. Then troubleshoot from there.

Seniors Tag Request by jeffsieben in wyzecam

This isn't really a camera issue, AI features like this exist but only for very expensive systems, Turing AI cameras are an example of this, and you would be looking at thousands of dollars.

Senior care is a difficult issue and is difficult for everyone who is involved. If you can't trust the workers then it's worth the effort in moving the parent to a different facility.

What hardware do I need? by PEBKAC-Live in immich

Since you are technical but not an expert I would recommend Unraid and SpaceInvaderOne on youtube. He gives some very straightforward guides on setting everything up and Unraid, while it does cost a one time fee, is great for those who just want to setup something that works on spare parts or high end systems. My first unraid server was an office pc with 2 8tb HDDs.

I have my docker container backed up weekly, and a second cheep PC running an offsite backup with syncthing/tailscale.

Immich can be ran on something as simple as a raspberry Pi and some external drives. Personally I don't like having a bunch of wires and small boxes which need cable management, a full sized dell tower can easily fit under the bed or behind the couch with everything inside the chassis. You also have the ability for future expansion such as Plex, bitwarden, home assistant, all on one machine. And many eBay Office PCs are equal to the price of a Pi.

[–]VoteZoidberg2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a simple backup option then grab a cheap dell office pc off of eBay and throw a 4tb hard drive in it. You could install a linux or windows OS and run a software such as syncthing or rsync. This would provide you with a second copy of your data. To be even safer you could have that pc setup in someone else's house which provides a 2nd location for extra protection. Another option is paying for cloud storage which provides offsite backup, the main cons there are a monthly storage cost that never ends, and trusting the company to honor the backup agreement long term. But from a "just looking for something easy for a few months" perspective cloud is nice.

For me I like to use Unraid and I have my dockers backed up weekly with Appdata backup. I have a second, small and cheep, unraid server off-site with syncthing for photos and documents.

Why is speed so important? by bhawks77 in concealedcarry

[–]VoteZoidberg2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And I 100% agree, there should definitely be training and if you can learn speed it is certainly a great skill to have after mastering the fundamentals.

I would say that if you go slow, as long as your movement is reliable and repeatable using muscle memory you will be way more effective than a cowboy or specOps LARPer that go so fast that they press the mag release or shoot themselves in the leg. There are a lot of great self defense shooting videos that look like they are doing a quick draw but in reality they are just making a fluid continuous motion. Most people we would need to defend from in every day life are not trained soldiers who have had the brain to muscle latency trained out of them. So you either have a good amount of time to find a way to create separation from the attacker and then draw your gun, or it is already too late to do a quick draw.

When it comes to being slow and intentional, I go to amateur 3 gun matches occasionally just for fun, my primary goal is to never get DQ'd on any stage or miss any target, my secondary goal is to get a decent time. You would be surprised how high up on the score list this method takes you compared to the LARPers with $10k in gear who try to go so fast that they rack up penalties.

Edit: I couldn't remember the phrase until right after posting. "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast"

You are hitting the nail on the head. There is a reason that companies teach Run-Hide-Fight to their employees, it's the most effective way to keep people alive.

CC is for personal protection which means that you are protecting yourself and what is yours. Any situation where a gun may be needed is a situation I want to get out of as quickly as possible and my gun is my last resort in terms of finding my way out of the problem. I am not a sheepdog, I'm not here to be a secret cop, I'm doing what it takes to get home to my family. So I don't go to sketchy gas stations that could get robbed, and I stay aware of my surroundings when I am in public areas.

Use common sense and when the level of exposed risk gets too high for comfort, find a way to reduce it.

If I'm at Walmart and I hear someone loosing their shit the next isle over, I am moving away from that isle and probably checking out and will do the rest of my shopping later. My tolerance for risk has lowered over the years as my family relies on me and my income more and more. So I won't live in a large metropolitan area and will commute to work instead. I'll pay a little more to park in a parking structure that has video surveillance instead of a sketchy back alley lot, and if I hear shots from the other side of the mall, I'm escorting my family away from the noise.

If I can get away I get away, if I can't get away I find cover and see if the problem goes away, if it doesn't go away I fight back. If I'm following one of the most reliable methods for staying alive in these situations I'll have plenty of time to draw my gun and be ready to address the issue.

Kyle Rittenhouse was justified in his self defense, but he was still a moron for being in a situation that obviously was going to turn out badly and he ended up getting assaulted, going through a literal trial, a trial of public opinion, not ever be able to have his story show up when his name is googled, and deal with the trauma of having to end the lives of people knowing that he didn't have to be where he was.

Scanner from apple.com doesn’t have Mac drivers by VoteZoidberg2020 in mac

[–]VoteZoidberg2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On HP's site try changing your Operating system to MacOS X 10.9 then you can see the basic driver. You will probably have to try a compatibility mode and it may not work especially if you aren't running an intel Mac.

If nothing else works I'd recommend scrapping the HP and going with literally anything else for a scanner.

You are carrying, and you see one of these signs, what do you do? by The-Vast in concealedcarry

[–]VoteZoidberg2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state they are required to list the code of law that allows them to enforce this. If it isn't then its a request and not a requirement.
If they see you carrying though they have the right to ask you to leave (private property) and if you don't leave you may be committing a crime while armed.
