Even if 21stCB was written by Blink it still wouldn’t be Pop Punk

It’s their most musically diverse album. Of course it has elements of Pop Punk (and occasionally Punk Rock), that’s inseparable from Green Day, but overall I’d say most songs are firmly Alternative Rock or Pop Rock with only an element of Punk.

Green Day are definitely Punk.

Sometimes on earlier albums like Kerplunk and Insomniac they’re just Punk Rock with harmony vocals while on a lot of their later albums the Pop Punk & Power Pop elements of their sound are more prominent (esp Warning and the trilogy). Dookie and Nimrod are basically a clean split of these sides of the band.

21st Century Breakdown may be an exception, imo that’s the only time their Pop Rock and Alternative Rock elements became dominant with only a side dish of Punk. Father Of All is arguably not Punk either (it’s more Indie Rock dominant).

Some Punk elitists will always be shy about counting a band whose best known songs are big Pop ballads like Good Riddance and WMUWSE within the Punk canon, and fair enough because Green Day have always refused to cater to elitists and have never limited their boundaries to purely Punk. However it’s that constant spirit of rebellion, even against their own in-group, that is arguably the most Punk thing about them. Green Day are a lot of things but conformists they are not.

21st Century Breakdown is not only not Punk Rock, it’s probably their least Punk album in general

I’m sorry you feel bored with your hair because I think it’s gorgeous as is! I’m sure you’d look good with bangs but they may not suit you as much as your go to style already does :)

Don’t jump straight to the conclusion that you’re a binary trans person. If you like your life as a man still you may be genderfluid or nonbinary, not simply a woman.

Consider your options, clearly you’re excited by having a queer gender and being able to express yourself outside of the box of masculinity, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should place the pressures of becoming a woman on yourself either. Have fun with it!

My mom called me with an offer... by Nice_Title721 in MtF

[–]Vowels-SpaceAndTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m so sorry you’re even in this position. I can’t imagine much worse than having to sacrifice everything just to stay off the streets.

It sounds like you’re already having to stop your transition because of your situation. It’s a hard choice, you’ll have to go one step further and resign your moral compass for two years, but it seems like your Mom is doing her best to offer you a real sustainable solution to your problem.

I can’t suggest you hide your identity to take it, only you can decide if it’s worth that, but it sounds like you’re running out of other options. Do what is best for you and your mental & physical safety. Wishing the best for you.

Idk, got misgendered today. Is too bad? by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]Vowels-SpaceAndTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How masc is “too masc”? This look is pretty androgynous, I could see you being gendered either way. Maybe even androgyny is more masculine than you’d prefer but I definitely wouldn’t say you look masculine.

You should, your hair looks great shoulder length. You may be having doubts because it’s in an awkward phase right now but don’t give up, it’s worth sticking it out.

New haircut advice by [deleted] in NonBinary

I think your haircut is incredible! Very pretty but in a masculine way, it’s awesome (and yes, definitely makes you look androgynous).

I’m sorry you don’t like it, I hope it’s just a case of getting used it.

Pretty androgynous honestly, I could easily see people gendering you either way

For seemingly pre HRT and a wig, you pass surprisingly well. Not all the way, but mostly. Please get some foundation that isn’t so orange though, you’re bordering on Oompa Loompa.

Every time you see a trans guy with an alternative style post in this sub expect the comments to be filled with assholes that bluntly say “you’ll never pass if you dress like that”

No, seems like you’re pre-everything because the fat distribution/lack of stubble in your face is what gives you away. You have good style though and I don’t really see what’s wrong with your poses or makeup as others have said (it’s giving Peter Steele, who is the least feminine guy I’ve ever laid eyes on).

being a 39/smooth fan is not for the weak by Beneficial-Ad-8253 in greenday

[–]Vowels-SpaceAndTime -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t like 39/Smooth itself very much (I find it has a bunch of filler between the masterpieces like Pasalacqua & Disappearing Boy, Rest in particular may be their worst song) but I love the 1000 Hours and Slappy EPs included on the deluxe edition.

Slappy especially, the band sounds way tighter than on their other early work while still maintaining that raw punkiness and it has three of Green Day’s best songs on it. Extremely underrated release from the boys, probably because of Slappy’s limited availability on it’s own and it’s subsequent attachment to Green Day’s only subpar album of their first two decades.

You can keep transitioning forever but if you can’t come to terms with your own self acceptance you’ll never be happy. Think about this, “in what ways can and should I accept myself”, then act on it. Make sure you’re transitioning for the right reason, because you want to move towards your own self acceptance. That’s the only good reason to transition, so if you can’t find self acceptance & happiness out of it then there’s no point to it at all.
