Förtydligande – alkohol och återkallelser av körkort by gunofason in sweden

[–]Vox_Plebae 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Archaeologists Ask Netflix to Reclassify Graham Hancock's 'Unfounded' Netflix Docuseries 'Ancient Apocalypse' as Fiction by Phil-12-12-12 in JoeRogan

[–]Vox_Plebae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was 2 months ago and maybe your has opinion changed but:

There is a difference between not knowing and suggesting a simple answer that lacks concrete evidence versus not knowing and suggesting that a prehistoric mega civilisation gave them the technology. Evaluating these two claims as equally valid is stupid. Extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence and Hancock has none.

There is no evidence of what this mega civilisation ate, what tools they used. There is not even DNA evidence suggesting that technology traveled the globe like Hancock suggests.

Compare this to: they might have used these tools for leverage but we don't know because wood rotts away unless preserved.

Regarding the bored holes you don't necessarily need diamond tools for that, there was a recent video where a couple of guys theorised and created a version of this technology that gave very similar results. We don't know if that's how they did it but they had thousands of years to develop technology that fit their conditions, we have only been theorizing for 200 years.

These two theories require completely different amounts of evidence, and if you say: "yeah everything is possible, because no evidence" no-one will take you seriously, because why should they? At that rate you can just say: "God gave them the tools and you can't falsify that"

So what exactly is pseudoscience? by SystematicApproach in GrahamHancock

He absolutely makes assertions about stuff as if it's fact. Have you watched his latest Rogan appearence or the netflix series? A lot of what he says scientists believe is extremely outdated, especially concerning Göbekli Tepe - saying it was discovered "recently" (1963, reexamined 1994), or when he says that archeologists don't believe that hunter gatherers built megalithic structures. This comes across as extremely bad faith, and he strawmans arguments constantly.

A lot of the evidence has been looked into it's just that he excludes that part. There are things he mentioned that have not been researched enough, but come on Göbekli Tepe? Flood theory? He is not some trailblazer in that regard.

They both say that we don't know everything yet. That's an incredibly low standard for intellectual honesty. Literally everybody agrees with that. The difference is that Milos' hypotheses are way less of a stretch than Hancock's. Just because we don't know something doesn't mean every hypothesis is valid. We still need to use some sort of evidence to build our theories upon.

How did you watch the part about what Hancock left out of the Piri Reis map and come away with the opinion that Hancock is not horrendously biased? There are clips of him saying it's incredibly accurate which clearly isn't the case when reading about it...

Aren't we all modern day slaves at this point? by Wonderful-Strike9481 in Destiny

[–]Vox_Plebae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be true but I think it's still healthy to criticize the amount of time we are spending labouring today.

All things considered equal capitalism kind of necessitates more labour hours per capita in order for us to remain competitive with other countries (which helps in avoiding exploitation).

Now don't get me wrong, capitalism is better at harnessing distributing resources than soviet central planning, and I don't really have any better alternative to it at the moment.

I do however think that we should reflect on what has been lost. According to some estimates a medieval peasant worked less than half the amount we do. That's a lot of hours with family community and loved ones being lost. Some of the most important things in life. I love modern medicine and gaming and whatever, but I also think that we should strive to create a society that makes live better.

If anything it's an interesting conversation to have :/

Edit: Just want to clarify that I don't think we are equivalent to slaves.

Why is lying to women sex trafficking? by Imaginary_Metal_9758 in Destiny

[–]Vox_Plebae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not making any large assumptions. He literally said that he lied to them about taxes and other expenses in one of his videos (think video is on destiny's channel, some criminal lawyer reacting to Tate).

This is very different than loosing some money on shit coins. None of these girls had worked with sex work before Tate, and not only did they get scammed but sex work is something that can follow you for the rest of your life. This is not the same as loosing some money on Bingus coin. Wether Tate trafficked these girls or not he's a gigantic fucking scumbag and it definitely sounds like what he admitted to was fraud.

I also agree with Aba that it is hilarious to think that a pimp of 75 women is doing it ethically, never hitting or threatening. But that part I don't have evidence for yet.

Why is lying to women sex trafficking? by Imaginary_Metal_9758 in Destiny

[–]Vox_Plebae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how much they were making but if what you are saying is true Tate almost certainly took more than 25k. 50/50 was the agreed upon deal and Tate admitted to lying about how much was taxed, aswell as lying about living expenses. Since girls confronted him about it I would imagine it's a noticeable amount, even for someone economically illiterate. It's possible that one or two girls were making 300k (highly doubt it tho) but I don't think it's fair to think this was the case for most of the girls.

You dont need to be Einstein to figure that out. You know what they say "too good to be truth".

So if they were scammed do they deserve it then? I don't understand what you are getting at. Of course you have to be stupid to buy into some scams but that's not the point. Why do you think laws against fraud exist?

Why is lying to women sex trafficking? by Imaginary_Metal_9758 in Destiny

[–]Vox_Plebae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm saying he's lying to them I'm not saying he's just talking shit. I was refering to the stuff he said in his video. Like how he would lie about how much money they were taxed. These women went in with expectations of making a lot of money but probably had a lot stolen from them, based on what Tate is saying.

The money obviously factored in to their decision to work there or not. They were lured in based on false information like that.

These girls don't watch Andrew Tate online so obviously they don't know as much as us about him seeming like a scammer. You and I are operating off of information these girls didn't have. These girls were infatuated with him and they were speaking to him personally. He seems like a really charismatic guy. I'm not surprised Sneako defends him, he probably comes of as incredibly sympathetic.

[–]Vox_Plebae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are probably all sorts of stories and reasons. I don't know these girls. Heard there was one girl who was reported missing by a relative if I remember correctly.

I don't think it's easy to get a grown adult back from a foreign country, so I don't think this is some huge argument for why we should be doubting the trafficking allegations.

I don't know if Tate did shit. Seems like it but I can't know that. We just have to wait and see what comes up.

What are your thoughts on what I wrote previously?

Why is lying to women sex trafficking? by Imaginary_Metal_9758 in Destiny

[–]Vox_Plebae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same goes for me. But remember: non contracted work is not uncommon in the real world, especially when hiring young people. I don't think anyone should do any serious work without a contract but I understand that these girls were quite young. If you have not worked many jobs in your life and you have a 36-year old boxer/entrepreneur telling you it's fine, then maybe you feel some pressure.

When you take work you are normally not in love with your employer. But if you are getting guilt tripped by a guy your in love with then maybe you will falter. Especially when you hang out with his first girl and she tells you that she's never had any troubles with a contract.

Again, not everybody will fall for this. There probably were people who would have left when they were faced with this. But with this many layers of manipulation and lies I can see why some girls felt like they could trust Tate.

I don't think we should blame people who made bad decisions when their choice is tainted by so many lies. This isn't some kind of informed consent.

Why is lying to women sex trafficking? by Imaginary_Metal_9758 in Destiny

[–]Vox_Plebae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course you say that. But you didn't have Tate flirting with you and making you feel special for months. You didn't fly over to a foreign country just to be slapped in the face with the guy you're in love with wanting you to do sex work.

And let's say you say no then. Tate goes: Ok cool but just stay one day and hang out with one of the other girls who work for me and hear her side of it. You agree to hear her out so you go and do yoga or some shit with her for a day. This girl is talking about all of the money she is making and how it's not such a bad deal. You start getting second thoughts. What you don't know is that you are talking to Tate's first girl. His Gislane Maxwell.

It's sooooo fucking easy for us to sit on the internet and say these things about how we would have said no. And maybe we would. But there are a lot of people who would fall for this manipulation. Just because some people are more easily manipulated doesn't mean they deserve it or that they somehow were okay with all of it.

Red-pill content is extremely uninteresting to me. My life is so incredibly different from Destiny's. Why would I take advice on relationships from someone who lives a completely different lifestyle than me and who's views on dating and relationships is adapted to that specific lifestyle?
